Tesla Shop tricked me into keeping the pet liner I ordered

Sorry just revisiting this and did we already discuss making sure the anchor (pipe piece) is secured in your seat? I’ve not had this happen and used it in two vehicles. My old MY and a rental M3. Although I rarely open the rear windows and just use the HVAC but it’s always working when the...

    Tesla Y car cover/umbrella

I live in the city and don’t need to drive very often. For about six months of the year (through the summer with the sun overhead) the car cooks all day. When I had a M3, I bought the Tesla Outdoor cover. It helped keep the car clean but the car would still get super hot and when we had a big...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Your vid got too popular! Thank you for sitting on it at first until a few of us could get all of our parts ordered.

Seems like there’s really no more advantage for BDM software upgrade as it’s possible to select Recirculate>Auto Temp>Blower/Fan Speed Level 10.

    CAR REGISTRATION

Same thing happened to me on my first Tesla, I seem to recall I had similar drama on my second but I also changed to dual ownership which also messed up transferring my plates. I’d say this process is not a strong point for them and if you add one variable you’re in for pain.

    Polestar 2 - Courtesy Car

I grew up exclusively with Volvo's and nearly bought one before deciding to take a chance on Tesla four years ago. I have also felt they seemed a few steps behind (but at least were trying with the BEV Polestars). The new P3 looked great however the price/specs definitely make it seem steps...

Model Y 19" All Weather Tires

Has anyone looked into Toyo Celsius tires for A/W that also have winter weather rating and also reported to be better than CC2s? I saw them mentioned in the thread below (admittedly for an MX) and was thinking of trying to find them when it's time to get a new set...

Model Y DIY Xpel Ultimate PPF

I would think if one waxed or applied one of those nano protections on them they'd appear clean just a long? My assumption was the satin wouldn't ever look as clean as a newly cleaned car but a clean (shiny) car would show build up on the paint between washes in a way that was more noticiable...

New Tesla Facility in Arlington, VA

I had to go in recently for a check/top up of my coolant reservoir. I dropped it off, they checked it, flushed the system, and inspected tires all for free. Was done so quickly I spent more time in an Uber back and forth than I would have had to wait. I'm excited to know we have an SC so close...

No dice when I asked about last weekend when the car was in for service.

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

At this point the question for @KirillK is: do the additional/updated apron vents really make that much of a difference? In hindsight I think would have preferred to just use my old apron so I wouldn't have a spare sitting around taking up space.

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I'm dropping it off Friday to have the coolant reservoir(?) topped up. (I'm guessing no one else noticed it was low when they were installing the new filter housing?) I'll also ask about options for including BWM.

Any insights into outdoor car cover for 2021 Model Y

I had the Tesla branded outdoor cover for two years with my M3 (2019-2021) and sold it when I got my MY. I bought it bc I street park nearby and also don't drive it more than once or twice a week (mostly used for weekend trips out of the city). I really liked it and back then, when I got it...

Navigation data update results... way to go TomTom!

Congratulations on the new job! Is there a thread in here that explains how to make these TomTom updates? I'm also an avid user of the TomTom Go (?) App on my phone even they just updated my edits into that, it would be a big deal.

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Finally had a chance to take my MY out for some long drives over the weekend. Hard to definitively say how much better the HEPA retrofit works but so far so good. The weather wasn’t too harsh (high-upper 80s) but I really couldn’t tell any difference wrt air flow, etc. Basically mirroring...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Thank you, so people who have BDM keep it selected most of the time? Or, are you saying the entire system is remapped so that a BDM enabled "5" on fan speed might be equavlent to the same output as "8" w/o BDM?) I keep mine on auto fairly exclusively so I'm hoping it won't make too much of a...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Just out of curiosity/to clarify: Bioweapon Defense Mode (BDM) is just a setting that runs the cabin fan--that pulls in air from the outside--at a high speed to rapidly achieve a high degree of cabin air quality in a potential situation in which the outdoor air quality is very bad. So put...

It happened- someone tried to steal my car

You'd be amazed at what you catch once you set up cameras! Very famous Tesla owner's security footage. I'm pretty active in my neighborhood. The thing I've been told more than once by our Police is not to think too rationally/logically about what some people who are involved in petty crime...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I finally got my parts in and when I went to pick them up the rep/mechanic even asked me if I wanted a tip on how to install it. I said sure and he asked me to open my hood—which I had a bit of trepidation about—and then he basically told me to be sure to take out the storage bin before...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

This is what I’m afraid of! As soon as I posted this earlier today, and messaged my SC to ask if I should reschedule to allow for more time to wait, they told me the parts were available. But the comms from them have not be coherent for weeks so I’m not sure it will all come together if I...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Is anyone else waiting for backordered parts? I've been waiting since late June, and it seems like the primary way to pass the time is to just keep rescheduling my "appointment" further and further out so that I can keep the common chat thread open. Not exactly straightforward but really my...

    Portable refrigerators for Model Y

Since there does not seem to be a way for a Tesla to be off and still running the 12v fridge, it doesn't really matter how AGM batteries work. (Though since you brought it up, if you were talking about an ICE vehicle, I read "10 volts is the electromotive force your alternator needs to get the...

    Portable refrigerators for Model Y

Sounds like you don’t really need an external battery if you’re not looking to relocate the fridge outside of the car. We bring the external battery because we don’t always want to walk over to the car to access the fridge, etc.
  30. Itsuo-DC

    Portable refrigerators for Model Y

This is also incorrect as most portable fridges have a low-voltage cut off to auto shut-off if the voltage of the 12v power source gets too low. Some fridges even let you set a variable H/M/Low voltage cut-off so you aren’t left with just one option. That being said I usually use an external...

    Portable refrigerators for Model Y

An overkill option for when the car is parked and pulling from a portable source (GZ Yeti 500x). Also, below is a standard camping set up when sun is available. In this configuration, the solar completely offset the fridge.

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I’ve been in contact with my local SC (Arlington, VA) and they said some of the parts are out of stock; but, they’re ordered and they’ll let meet know when to pick them up. 🤞🤞

    Portable refrigerators for Model Y

Great to have those wheels! I almost threw my back out picking up my fridge, with 500Wh battery on top, over the holiday weekend. The next one I get will definitely be a little bigger and have wheels.

    Model Y repair horror story

I acknowledge how frustrating this is, especially based on how straightforward one would have expected the repairs to be. I'm not sure how egregious Tesla sending the incorrect part is; one--because the correct part could have already had a multi-month wait and, two--the body shop could have...

New Tesla Facility in Arlington, VA

Yes, at the time I was not in a rush so the potential convenience of Arlighton would have justified the initial wait. I too have had a great experience with the Rockville service center and body shop.

New Tesla Facility in Arlington, VA

On 6/10 I made an appointment via the App for an over the counter parts purchase/pick up. The earliest “appointment” they had was 6/30. I took it. On 6/27 I was notified my appointment was moved to 7/18. No other communication was made by the SC about the appointment. Not a good look...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Never thought about this but I could see it being an obstacle. If nothing else, it would lower the number of possible eligible retrofits. Good luck with the parts and the HV Replacement!

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Thank you. So the real advantage of BWD is that it just increases the internal fan speed (a certain amount) to replicate performance on par with the system w/o the HEPA installed? I would have thought in Auto mode, with or without the HEPA, it would just increase fan speed and adjust...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Congratulations! I guess what people have said about legacy car makers depending substantially on money from parts rings true in this example. I'm guessing no one raised an eyebrow about this? My appointment at the Arlington SC was just kicked out from 6/30 to 7/18 with no actual response...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Did it end there? Or, did you get the same reasoning that @BreatheEasier received from their SC about the vehicle being ineligible for the part order? Thanks! Tyco was going to be my back up if the new one in Alexandria(?) didn’t come through. (I’m still waiting to hear back about 6/30...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

 good deals don't last long! Maybe we can order individual pieces, as opposed to all three, where it's not so obvious what's going on... Another options would be obtaining them from salvage vehicles? I still haven't heard from my SC since I wasn't able to get an appointment until...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Thank you @Silverlitmoon and @Olle for the details and photos. Like others, I put in my order today (even including the image of the part numbers provided above). This seems like too good/straigh-forward of an improvement to pass up. Sounds like we will need M6 hex bolts that are at least...

1 click away from ordering model Y

I don't think you'll have to worry too much about the white interior. It cleans easily and it's helped by the fact that it is easy to see when it's dirty so you clean it more often than you would a darker color. The M3 was definitely sportier and therefore more fun to drive but the MY has...

1 click away from ordering model Y

I've been surprised how unusual Red is. I assume a lot more people want it than actually buy it--as it obviously looks great. My first time around I had to pay for white on my M3, second time around my MY came with white for free but I also paid for the white interior. No regrets. The last...
