You bring up some good points. There are different reasons why people vote Rep. As I’ve said before, I have typically voted Dem. There are good and bad representatives on both sides of the aisle. But in general, the Dem policies (especially within the past couple decades) have left out rural...

This is another example of contributing Republicans to being stupid. This is not a logical argument. The racist, stupid, or morally inferior claims for anyone that identifies as a Republican are insulting, and are not based in fact. Many people in rural areas are farmers, small business...

A form of energy can die, but it should happen in the free market. We do not want the government controlling everything. The reality is that the economics of renewables is not good enough yet. Not even Tesla has their operations powered 100% by renewables. It’s possible to do it, but it is too...

I never said anything about a president being a god king. I’m just stating the fact that the president cannot be indicted. He can be removed by congress though. There is a difference.

    Market politics

A sitting president cannot be indicted. Just because someone does not like a president, does not mean they can bring phony charges against him/her in an attempt to remove him/her from office. That would be subverting the will of the people and considered a coup. It looks like that may be what...

There is a misunderstanding here. Their position is that climate change is happening but ALL of the contributions are not clear. They are not climate change deniers but are adverse to completely killing certain types of energy (and the economy).

I guess now we will be hearing about Trump’s corruption and obstruction of justice. Despite being exonerated for collusion, which is no surprise to those of us that do not listen to the MSM, they will say he some how obstructed an investigation into a made up crime. Give me a break. The...

I heard some of those rumors but cannot confirm them to have any real validity. I only see it was debated at one point, but the governor decided to decline. Do you have any source for this claim? How much would you pay if Ohio's gas tax rises by 18 cents per gallon? We did the math. “More debt...

I saw this posted and thought I’d note that this is not correct. Overall, the media is not conservative and very much has a liberal lean. I’ll stop here since this probably should be in the Market Politics section. On topic, I have not seen posted that the Republican governor of Ohio has...

As a comparison, the Honda Civic and CR-V are manufactured on the same platform. In the US,the Civic sold about 325k in 2018. The CR-V sold about 380k in 2018. So your initial Y estimates make a lot of sense to me. But the ratio may change in the future, if the trends continue for CUVs.

I’ve been managed by engineers and non engineers. When you do engineering work, trust me, you would want to be managed by an engineer rather than a bean counter. Alot of companies celebrate 3% growth. Tesla is doing 50% consistently. Not sure how people deduce Elon is a poor manager when the...

I have worked with many companies across many industries. The large auto OEMs are notoriously difficult to work with. In fact, I know some companies refuse to work with them. They will yell that the floor is wet but ignore that the roof is leaking. They are not focused on the correct things...

The performance and functionality definitely would seem to be major selling points. Also for the heavy duty work trucks, often there are onsite diesel tanks to refuel. Diesel is not fun to work with since it stinks and can be a necessary evil. I believe there are permits required and extra...

From what I am seeing, people are estimating unit sales over 1 million/yr in several years since the pickup truck market is so big in the US. In order to do that, they will need to convert ICE pickup drivers to EV drivers. This is a tall task. Perhaps these expectations are not grounded in...

Does anyone else have concerns regarding the Tesla truck? There seems to be some excitement around it, but likely from people that do not drive trucks. My concern is if they are able to appeal to the rural/suburban average Joe. The truck will need to appeal to someone that takes it on a hunting...

Now that the $35k M3 is available and H3 is supposedly very close to being available, it makes me wonder if the Tesla Network will be available soon. I’d guess when it’s first available it will be Uber-like with the owners driving, and evolve to driverless as the autonomy evolves. Tesla Network...

Crazy thought of the day... In regards to the scaling back of stores, I’m curious what this means for Tesla’s residential energy sales, since the Tesla stores were used as a justification for the purchase of Solar City. I’ve long suspected Tesla has something up their sleeves on the residential...

Supposedly EVs are a big deal in the trade negotiations. I have seen this stated by the commerce secretary. However, for whatever reason, this is not covered in the news. I am expecting a surprise on the upside for EVs once some of the trade deals fall into place.

The AMZ investment would be in the people and their expertise. Clearly their prototypes are not for a semi. If AMZ leases/purchases just like everyone else, then they do not have much of a competitive advantage in shipping costs, since everyone will be doing it.

I do not see the Rivian truck as a mass market work truck either. Frankly, I think the hype is premature at this point. However, I do think it is interesting that Amazon is a big investor. This tells me the Tesla semi is viewed as a threat to one of Amazon’s competive advantages - low cost...

This is an interesting insight. Perhaps Elon’s guidance of only 7k M3/wk by end of year has something to do with postponing battery cell production expansion plans until the new process is implemented, as you suggested. I guess we will eventually find out.

In regards to how this impacts Tesla, I assume there will be a short term dip in stock price and deliveries will be redirected (similar what they have done in response to the China dispute). But once a final deal is made, they will be better off in the long run. Ultimately, Tesla will be in...

This would not be a smart move in my opinion. The EU should fairly negotiate. Auto tariffs would drive most of the EU into an immediate recession, especially Germany. The US is closing in on a massive deal with China and the markets are back to approaching an all time high. So the US economy...

My thought on the tariffs is that this is a move to bring the EU to the negiotiating table. He is not one to bluff and to not follow through. The tariffs would be significantly more harmful to the EU than the US. There must be something ongoing with trade negotiations that the US is not...

That is only if they are not long term investors. Then they would prefer the stock to be high when the bonds are due. So they can sell. But if you ARE a long term investor then you want the stock to be low when the bonds are due. So you can buy and hold, plus get the arbitrage from the cash.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Regarding the March bonds that are about due, wouldn’t the bondholders prefer the stock to be low as the bonds became due? Then they could use the cash from the bonds to buy cheap stock, essentially maximizing their profits on the arbitrage. Is this correct? If it is, then I would not be...

I actually look at their track record and see something different. They are doing something no other company has done. There have been mistakes along the way. Regarding the Gigafactories, the competitive advantage is the “magic” involved in making the modules, battery packs, drivetrains, cars, etc. It’s all of it working together in a highly efficient manner, that produces the magic. It is easy to talk about gun control and put forth bills that everyone knows do not have a chance of passing, for political purposes. The most recent Autoline show with Sandy Munro is a good microcosm for today’s news.
