12V Battery Replacement Outside of Warranty

Something that motivated me to act was a message saying I could not update the firmware until the 12v battery was changed. I guess it would be bad for the 12v to die completely during a software update. Mobile service swapped mine out on the Model X for $88 labour $210 for battery.

No more TOU electricity in ON! Charge whenever you want

I get doubly hit with this latest increase to fixed 12.8 cent price. I have 3 EV's (one's a plug-in hybrid) that normally charge at night AND a net metered solar installation. I offset some of my use of the grid with solar and I get credits back at current rates any electricity I put back on...

    Acceleration Shudder

This is exactly my issue still after replacement of half shafts (twice) and clevis mount. I get a grinding noise coming from the left front in standard mostly. When I try it in high it doesn't seem to do it but the acceleration is slower as if they are software limiting the acceleration on...

Hydro Rates in Ontario from 6.5 to 10.1 per Kwh

This is great for Ontario households with net-metered PV arrays. My income form solar is now back to what it was before all the rate drops. This is assuming Oakville hydro hasn't moved me to some other tiered pricing scheme or discounted the credit by the same amount as the rebate. We will...

Ontario: Autopilot issues between 400 and Orillia?

The speed limit drops occur right before the sign for Oro Medonte 4, and close to Oro Medonte 14. But only on north bound lanes. I’m not sure it’s pounding the brakes. I just think regen is kicking in making it seem like brakes are applied.

But here is the report .https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ontario-licence-plate-slogan-open-for-business-1.5081565 I suggest "Real Change (Now)". What do think Mike? Pretty innocuous.

Yes I don't like what our premier is doing to our province and I did not vote for him. But I would not condone ANY political party putting a campaign slogan on everybody's licence plate. That is pure populism at its finest. That would be like U.S. putting MAGA on everybody's plate. Open for...

ICEing condoned in downtown Kingston, ON

As a Queen's grad I would disagree - especially with lumping Queen's in with RMC. ;) FYI Queen's has 62 Level 2 charging stations now so you may be able to find one that's not ICEd there.

Have any of you ordered wheels from T Sportline?

I did for my X. They are really nice wheels. I had them shipped to my house here. I can't remember whether I paid duty through FedEx or not. I don't think I saved much over buying the Tesla wheels but I like them better because they are black whereas the Tesla 20" are grey. I went and...

Similar to @mknox I have also driven my Model S P85 (175K KM) every winter to Muskoka and skiing all over, and down to USA, including in numerous snowstorms. It has been absolutely fine in the snow. The height adjustable suspension helps greatly in the deep snow. With any RWD car you are...

Just based on plugshare, the map shows it in the overflow parking lot across the street from the main village parking lot. I have parked there when the other lot was full. This is a good location as it will not get ICEd unless the place is jammed, which it often is on weekends - don't get...

No way you should risk planning going up and back in one charge. The Blue Mountain Intrawest charger is only for Intrawest guests. I believe if you have lunch at the Westin you can charge. I have stayed and charged there before but it is often partially ICEd. The 4 new J1772 plugs in the...

    EHVIP Cancellation consequence

Not only was the $2 Billion/year Cap and Trade revenue stream stopped, ongoing cost commitments from that program mean Ontario will be on the hook for another $3 Billion over the next 4 years, according to Costing the Cancellation of Cap and Trade. The interior door latch that we shouldn't use??

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it only a problem using the manual lever when there is no power? That is when the window will not go down the small amount when you open the door. Otherwise it should be fine using it. Even if the window doesn't go down, the door should open ok, even though...

Charging 2 Teslas in a sequence

I can’t go 60A now unless I do some rewiring (again). When I installed I put in leftover Teck #4 AL wire and inspector made me change wire to CU from the splitter box as HPWC calls for CU only. To save money I used #8 CU. I could swap it out again though but I am loathe to take everything...

Ontario EV Rebates Cancelled July 11, 2018

And a positive from all this talk of incentives going away is that EV sales in Ontario have skyrocketed. Tesla has probably delivered over 2,000 cars in Toronto over the last few weeks. Many other models are posting record monthly Canadian numbers for May. We have definitely reached a tipping...

It’s pretty well guaranteed they will cancel the EV incentives given they are funded by Cap and Trade proceeds. Also someone in our EV club had asked the question of the administration via twitter and they had confirmed the planned elimination of incentives.

And supporting long range vehicles that for the time being are over $75K supports innovation and drives down costs for those more practical cars. Short range 200km cheaper EV’s don’t fit everyone’s needs. So incentivize all zero emissions cars in the name of progress.

Ontario EV Rebates Cancelled July 11, 2018

And the other problem with limiting incentives for cars under a certain price is there is nothing stopping a wealthy person from buying one. So according to the critics, if a wealthy person buys a $30K EV (or 2) and gets $14K it’s ok? But if they buy one over $75K it’s not ok and that’s bad...
