    MORR 20" 20lb model S wheels

Up for sale is a set of custom one of a kind very light-weight mono-forged MORR VS5.2 rims. They have a custom gunmetal powder coat done by Kwicksilver (awesome wheel finishers in the Bay Area). I picked this color to have them stand out a little against my silver P85. They also have matching...

any recommendations to power coat rims Bay Area?

I highly recommend Kwicksilver Wheel Repair of San Francisco (actually based in South San Francisco). I have used them for 4+ years to fix scrapped alloy wheels and just change the color of sets of wheels across three teslas and 4 set of wheels.

2 teslas as only cars in household? good idea or bad

Definitely look us up for lunch. We are former Minnesotans, having lived for a while in Maple Grove before heading West. Love the financing suggestions: the honesty and pragmatism of the "expense" column, and the you-only-live-once of the "entertainment' column, versus the likely placement...

2 teslas as only cars in household? good idea or bad

Hahaha. We have also been a two Tesla family for about 1.5 years and covered 35K mikes across them last year. My wife just told me to keep my sig and get an X too, because she was tired of my anguishing over selling my beloved sig versus her newer suspension P85. The trick now is where to put...

How many miles/year have you driven your Model S?

Pretty steady 20k/yr over past two years

    Fast drivers?

I have a 70 mile Bay Area round trip along 280. This is up and down hills with traffic in the left lane running 75-85 mph. Occasional short passing bursts at 90, and I use 100 rated miles for the 70 mile trip which suggests you should be fine with a 140 mile commute, unless you plan to go...

Model S not reading 128GB micro SD card

I think that is a much cheaper option, and honestly what I did originally. I think what you get for the higher price of the microSD/ elago solution is a much cleaner look where the USB stick doesn't protrude from the center stack. If you ignore looks/space required and wanted lots of storage I...

    Total Mileage Thus Far

Now at 31,292 miles after 18 months. Sig P85 averaging ~350wh/mile. Stock 21" continental DW tires for first 22K miles, then staggered 21" setup with Continental 5P tires. Similar wh/mile with both tire/wheel setups. I think better alignment/camber bolts and lighter wheels balance stickier...

Vandalized twice - Bigotry is alive and well on San Francisco Peninsula

Wow surprised and sorry you got keyed! I am also in Los Altos and regularly park on the street in most communities on the peninsula and SF. I hadn't realized that I have been fortunate and/or lucky to avoid intentional damage. I am not sure I would be able to handle it with as much equanimity...

Seeking first hand feedback on ContiSportContact 5P tires

I just put contisportcontact 5Ps on my sig P85. My staggered setup is the similar to yours 9" 245/35 r21 front and 285/30 r21 rear. This replaces OEM Conti 21s. First impression is I like them, but they have only been on a couple of hundred miles and I haven't had a chance to push them hard...

Negative Camber and Tire wear on MS

@blurryeyed I have similar miles 16,000 on original continental 21s. Rotated at 4k and 11.5k. P85, 350kw/mile lifetime ave. can't remember exact rear camber but it is out of spec too negative. Driving 90% highway miles at 65-85 mph. Drive near speed limit in city but usually take turns at speed...

    Total Mileage Thus Far

10 months and 15,500 miles. Can't believe how great the car is daily use. It represents stunning engineering and business model achievements. ICE tech has been around for more than 100 years, and now out of nowhere we have a fundamentally different personal transportation option. Wow!

Tesla S - Daily Driver or Second Car?

Instant daily driver for long commute and kid hauler for me. Used it so much aka couldn't share ;) so replaced wife's car with a second daily driver/ kid hauler from Tesla ;) IMHO one of these cars is better than a separate sedan, sports car, minivan, wagon or mid-life crisis mobile. YMMV...

    Mileage Check

8 months and 12.5k miles. After a month I realized I might have trouble sharing, and secretly put down a deposit for a second for my wife. By December the kids called me out for not sharing ;). My wife agreed to get the second Tesla to beat the price increase. Basically we LOVE the cars! Drive...

When to rotate tires? @annual inspection/12,500 or sooner? Who is doing it?

I got free rotation @ 5k when I brought car in for other items. 2nd rotation and alignment covered by service plan at 12k. I paid $25/ wheel extra for balancing at 12k service. It looked like two wheels needed balancing from the "appearance" of the wheel weights after the service. Tesla didn't...

Sig S owners: Signing up for SigX?

Invite and the X event were nice. Most of us also got a Tesla logo gym bag. Agree with other posters that there is no need to reserve sig early. People drop of the list as delivery gets close, making room for wait listers to move up. Benefits were minimal unless the sig premium price allowed...

My 15,000 Mile Long Term Update

8 months, 12,500+ miles later and I completely agree! Best car ever!!!!! We have become a 2 EV (read Tesla) family and have had no worries (and no problems) with range, road trips, etc. Though we do mostly stay local to CA. I also charge lots away from home. I make it a game to charge whether...

Speed Difference on Performance + Vs Performance & Tire Wear Concerns

I also have the original tires on my P85 (21" Contis), and also just crossed 12k. Help talk me away from the ledge

I jumped off the ledge last year, and 10k miles later, I am still loving so many things about this car: instant acceleration, style, electronics, room for family, fact that I no longer think about my next Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Porsche, etc. Only word of caution: your wife will want one...

    Rear jump seats

I'm sig 457, took delivery early Jan, and I had the kids seats retro fit in Dec. You should definitely call and politely but firmly get yourself inserted into the service queue. The kids love the seats though heat rejecting window film is highly recommended for the rear window.

Hey, what happens if you buy two Model Ses?

I have two and the app works fine. In the category of too much information ;), my wife and I no longer call to see who will be home first/ where are your/ etc. We just check the app and we can see where the other car is. We have even called and reminded each other to plug in while traveling...

First Day Thoughts: #1 -- You Don't Need the P85. The 85 is more than Plenty.

Three quick thoughts: 1.Speed: Don't lend your car to celebrity friends. Long history here of celebs, getting behind wheel of exotic car X, flooring it, and trashing car. With the insane speed of the PS this is likely a kinetic impactor event, somewhat like the meteor impact in Russia :)...

Poll: For P/R reservations, which battery/motor did you finalize ?

How right you are! Contrast that 3 hour nightmare with 1/2 hour of supercharging at Hawthorne on a sunny afternoon on our recent road trip to Disney. Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

I don't think this is normal, and had it fixed on my car. I had this happen with the driver's side passenger door. I flagged this as an item when I was last in for service. Apparently there was a fix, though I am not sure if it was hardware or software. No problems with accidental release...

    Delivery/Installation: Rear Facing Child Seats

Interesting. I am also awaiting rear facing seats, but do not have those latches on the 2nd row. I got my car a few months ago, and perhaps they had not finalized the design at that point. I wonder if this means they will have to remake all or part of the 2nd row for those of us with early...

Have no fear. I took the kids from Silicon Valley to Disneyland last month. Here are quick watch outs in case you are nervous: 1. Only one charger was active at Harris Ranch so it is good to have some flexibility on timing if you have to wait. When I went I left my mobile number in the car...

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

The car did charge. When I got home from the factory, I plugged into the 14-50 outlet and charged for about an hour at 40amps with the electrician who installed the plug monitoring and learning about the car. The outlet is on a dedicated 50amp breaker in its own panel. This was the first...
