Blog Tesla’s FSD Beta 10.2 Coming This Friday

Day two has been a bit hit (or close to hit) and miss. It really has a hard time navigating parking lots even if they have lane lines, etc. Just too much going on - twice it just stopped for no reason and would not move forward with me disengaging it. Also, I find you have to be careful when...

Blog Tesla’s FSD Beta 10.2 Coming This Friday

Got the update and just took the car for a spin on FSD. Really a crazy experience - the car drives itself, which is obvious, but experiencing it in action is incredible. It mostly did fantastic on some tricky suburban streets. You absolutely have to pay full attention, but it is worth the...

Blog Tesla’s FSD Beta 10.2 Coming This Friday

I live in the suburbs of Chicago and although I was driving a lot, my score was 99 mostly because it is almost impossible to drive here without hard braking and "unsafe" following. This morning I got out on the highway very early and drove into Wisconsin at 50 mph in the center lane on AP while...

Do we think it is midnight PST? Or is it rolling?

Update finished (late 2016 90D) - looking forward to the commute tomorrow to test everything out.

Autopilot for HW2 rolling out to all HW2 cars today!

I have the recent update to 17.7.2 on AP2. Much improved! City street driving is significantly better and the car even made some good decisions on certain lanes that were not great on AP1 for the same stretch of road (a tricky intersection in Chicago). The highway driving is better too - less...

10 days in WI/IL/MI - zero Teslas at any supercharger

I drive IL to MI (and back again) very often and usually the St Joseph stop has one or two cars charging. It is a bottleneck if you look at the map of other chargers on a route to northern MI. So far no issue in finding a spot but on holiday weekends I am usually sharing a charger.

    Software Update Available! HW2 car!

HW2 90D Model S in Chicago. Got the software update last night and took the car for a spin on the highway today. I previously owned a Model S with AP1 that I traded in for the current Model S in December. Comparison to AP1 so far - it appears HW2 is 'hunting' more within the lane when using...

    Software Update Available! HW2 car!

My guess is that this is the shadow update that Musk referred to earlier. Just a little later. Tesla-time.

    Vibration In Steering Wheel

Interesting thread. I picked up a new Model S 90D (19" tires) two weeks ago and had my first highway driving yesterday. Had terrible shaking in the front over 70mph on the highway. Although I know it is not the actual issue, it felt like one of the wheels periodically would be unaligned on...

    New Model S with AP2

I traded in my 2014 85D for a 90D with AP2 last week. Funny to realize now how reliant I was on the AP1 especially during the traffic laden trips to and from my office (downtown Chicago). I did not think I would miss it that much in the short term, but wow, was I spoiled (and wrong). In the...

Steering wheel controls confirmed - "feels like a spaceship"!

For some reason I cannot upload the picture (thanks to anyone that is able to!), but if you look closely at those Franz sketches that were referenced (Musk posted one in the last 24 hours on Twitter), you can see the steering wheel is not a full circle and it appears to have some detail in the...

Consumer Reports is wrong about future reliability

Ugh. CR is just completely wrong. Long time reader on this board but not a frequent contributor - but I feel I need to write something. I have an early build car (3k VIN series or "classic" or "manual," if you will) and it has been flawless. A couple little issues that were all cleared by a...

    2013 P85 Model S - only 8,000 miles! - fully loaded (including warranty)

2013 P85 Model S - only 8,000 miles! - fully loaded (including warranty) This is something truly unique. Fully loaded Performance 85 Model S with less than 7k miles. Garage stored since inception. Honestly still has that new car smell. In mint condition. In the highly desirable (and no...

    VisibleTesla

First, thanks again for this incredible application. I am living in France part-time while my Model S resides still in the US. It is wonderful to be able to connect remotely and have more control as compared to the Tesla app on the iPhone. Second, I am not sure if this function is available...

    Firmware 4.2

Good question - I check them almost every other day. Although the error is that the system itself is not working not that the tires have low pressure. Frustrating, but only real problem that I have had...The most annoying part is driving others around because otherwise the car is flawless, and...

    Firmware 4.2

In version 4.1, from the date of delivery, I had the tire pressure system monitor warning. The service center told me it was a software bug. Now I am on 4.2 and still have the same warning. I know others have had the tire pressure system warning on this board but I can't seem to find anyone...

Connectivity: When is iPhone/Android app coming out?

I am constantly filled with Tesla anxiety. First it was when will my car be delivered. Then it was when will the software be updated. And now I am fixated on this remote app. Every morning in the (now) freezing Chicago winter I hope that the app will magically present itself in Apple's...

    Firmware 4.2

I just received the message this morning that an update was ready. I have the last version of 4.1 which was delivered with my car in early January. Other than the tire pressure monitor warning (that the tire pressure monitor is not working and it needs service), I have been very happy with...

    Meursault's 48 hours with the Model S

Some photos of Tess in the urban setting. The previous name of this color (Dolphin Grey) is fitting since in a certain light there is a blue/green aspect to it: - - - Updated - - - And here is a first - observer on the street wanted to pose in a unique way with the car - the possibility...

    Meursault's 48 hours with the Model S

Cusp of Revolution - Meursault's 48 hours with the Model S As a more silent member of this board (long time listener/reader), I do NOT feel like I need to repeat the sentiments of those that have received vehicles already – so here I go with a novel of my own. Just sincerely know, when that...

Model S Delivery Dates and Sequencing

Interesting 48 hours - found out my car was ahead of schedule for delivery and that it could still got on the truck in 2012 if I scrambled to make sure PenFed could confirm my loan. Was assigned VIN 3277. Reservation sequence number #6366. Performance, grey exterior, black interior, pano...

    New ViNs lately?

Well this is interesting - just took a closer look at my VIN and it has a D for model year (10th digit) - "C" was 2012 and so even though the MVPA has Year 2012 and delivery December 31, 2012, looks like I got model year 2013....right?

    New ViNs lately?

Just assigned VIN 3277. Reservation sequence number #6366. Performance, grey exterior, black interior, pano, carbon fiber, and all the other options except for third row seats. Delivery date on purchase order 12/31/2012 (I am in Chicago).

Moving from US to France - Import US version or (painfully) wait for EU

Yes, definately only temporary - 2 years at most (or 4 - six month temporary periods ). Leasing an EV while in France is a possibility, but I really can't stand the idea of waiting so long for the Model S (even though, as you pointed out, I would recieve the benefits of the upgrades)...

Moving from US to France - Import US version or (painfully) wait for EU

6366 reservation holder moving to France (bonjour!) for business in January from the US (au revoir!) for two years. Based on all the information available right now looks like January-March delivery. If anything, as a mostly 'forum voyeur', this site has proven that the knowledge of the...

    Get Amped Tour: Chicago, 7/26 - 7/28

Quick question - did the Chicago Amp tour drivers receive a second confirmation email after registering for the test drive? I have the Congrats confirmation from the site when I registered, but never received anything more about the event. Yes, I am paranoid.

    Get Amped Tour: Chicago, 7/26 - 7/28

Received two emails inviting me to my personal test drive. I am mere P6366 and so perhaps it is all the sixes that got me lucky (and yes devious forum members, I did try to sign up twice, and no, it did not let me). Registered for what I think/hope is the last slot on the last day - 4pm-5pm...

    Get Amped Tour: Chicago, 7/26 - 7/28

I will be there. Looking for an early morning Saturday slot, although I am P6366 so I am not sure when I will get the email. I have received invites to each of the other events, so I take that as a good sign. My three biggest questions are 1. who to bring, 2. drive a performance or standard...

Can I charge my Model S on a generator? (Is that a generator in your frunk?)

Knowing absolutely nothing about the technical feasibility of this, would it be possible to carry on board in the trunk or frunk a portable gas powered generator to use in certain emergency situations? Could a typical 120 output generator be modified to be more efficient and provide quicker...
