TIme for a New 'Electric Boats" Forum Category?

I came across this today.. Aqua Superpower (using 'Supercharging' is a bit cheeky!) I see they are installing their first rapid chargers in UK marinas in the south and south-west, tho expect it'll be a while before they reach the Hebrides...

    Scame 'Tipo A' Plug Availability

Hi, I am trying to buy some reasonably priced Scame 'Tipo A' female EV plugs and have only found a ridiculously expensive source in the UK (€50+, Scame's offical UK agent) or a not quite so ridiculous €31 (when I order 5 together) from e-Staion.it. Considering the equivalent in Shuko/UK 3...

Touch Screen Browser - IP Controller Username & Password

Hi, I have a driveway gate which can be accessed via the internet remotely. When I go to the gate's web address on the MS' touch screen browser I get "401 Unauthorised: Password required". Is there any way around this? I want to be able to open the gate when I'm a few hundred yards down the...

    Charging on 32A 1P 230VAC EVSE - Only Getting 16A

Hello All... I have a couple of Q's, the first relating to charging from a UK domestic EVSE at 32A... A friend has a Model S with an 85kWh pack. My S has a 60kWh pack. Friend has a 32A Rolec EVSE which will only charge his S at 16A. It will charge mine at 32A. Has anyone else had this issue...

'Driver' of An AP Equipped MS Making a Hand-Held Mobile Call - Breaking the Law?

Playing Devil's advocate for a moment... I had this discussion at work today. The letter of the law states "No person shall drive a motor vehicle on a road if s/he is using a hand-held mobile telephone...". Just wondering if you could prove you were not actually 'driving' then you couldn't...

    AutoPilot in the Fog

Has anyone played with AP in bad (<50m visibility) fog yet? Anything interesting to pass on? I'm assuming there might be a point where the cameras can still lock on the lane markings sufficently to allow AP to work and the RADAR is well capable of penetrating fog... but what would the U/S...

Testing Traction Battery in Salvaged Model S

Is there an easy way to test the condition of cells in a battery pack still attached to the car sitting in a scrap yard? Assuming the impact of the crash caused the pack to be isolated (which I gather it does) how long will a pack at, say, 25% SOC last without intervention before irreperable...

Direct Wifi Access to Car from SmartPhone

Hi, I was out demo-ing the new SuC at Birchanger Services, Bishops Stortford (M11, UK) to a friend today and he asked rather pointy question. Having shown him how the Tesla app allows the car to remotely notify you of charging status (etc) he said "So does the car talk to the smartphone...

Are ALL London's SuCs Really Off-Line at 1430 on Saturday, 15th August 2015?

I was driving up the M4 towards London on Saturday - intending to charge at Reading. Halfway there, I see the Reading SuC symbol on the Nav app is greyed out. Eeek! Zoom out to find this... (sorry about the quality)... Even more 'Eeek!'. Anyway, I had my CHAdeMo adaptor so I thought...

M11 Bishops Stortford SuC Open - Suddenly!

I see there is a new Welcome Break Services SuC at Bishops Stortford services on the M11 - open as of 3 days ago. I didn't see that one coming... and it is only 10 miles up the road. It's almost East Anglia! MW

The One Serious Flaw With The Model S

Just spent the best part of a week driving around unfamiliar territory in the wilds of Devon and have decided the S has a critical flaw. Given that the touch-screen is such an integral aspect of driving and enjoying the S - and how much attention it gets when people first lay eyes on the S -...

CHAdeMO Adaptor Error at Moto Services Exeter

For what it is worth, I tried out my CDMA at Moto (Exeter) M5 services this afternoon. Car was at about 60% and took 20 miles-worth at about 60A before charging stopped of its own volition. The CDM charger display showed this... MW

    Navigation App - Defining Waypoints

I have a long trip (1000 miles) planned and have planned an itinerary based on both Super and Rapid charger stops. Is there a way of entering waypoints other than only SuperCharger locations to cater for the (mercifully few) Rapid charging stops instead of having to navigate to the first Rapid...

Spare Fob Key - OK to Store With Battery Out?

Homelink = Hormann Automatic Gate / Garage Door Opener

For those of us lucky enough to have an MS and a Hormann automatic garage door (and/or gate, for that matter) you may be interested to know that they are compatible and very easy to use with the MS. Once the Homelink opener/light/other billy-doo is programmed into the MS (a simple matter - just...

Mitigating Speed Hump Discomfort With Air Suspension

How Does The Model S Charge at Home?

Hi, Tesla's UK web site does not explain terribly well how home charging is going to work. Their web site… Tesla Charging | Tesla Motors … says you have to have a Type 2 (Mennekes) EVSE (ideally ChargeMaster) installed at home but it shows a cable with a Type 2 plug on each end right...

    Tesla European Newsletter

This makes interesting reading for those of us MS fans this side of the Atlantic. Firstly, I am pleasantly surprised at the low official UK pricing which starts at 'just' £50k (including the Governments £5k discount) I had been expecting it to be near £60. Also the option unbundling is also...

Design and 3D Print Your Own Tesla

Given Mr Musk's strong interest in novel ways of doing things and the very generic design of Tesla's rolling chassis/drive train, I wonder if one day you will be able to design your own Tesla and 3D print the panels/body needed to produce a completely unique vehicle or one designed for a...
