Supercharger - Merritt BC - De Wolf Way

I think Merritt isn't generally isn't that bad. The server at Boston Pizza asked if we were there for the country music festival or just happened to be passing through on the busiest weekend of the year. I planned my travel to avoid needing to charge in Kamloops or Revelstoke because I believed...

    Western Canada Superchargers

I used one of those recently (Mount Robson Visitor Center) and with the Chademo adapter I was only pulling 16 kw while on a high power AC charger I have seen 12kw (M3 LR). Even on a 50 kw BC Hydro unit with a relatively low battery I was only able to get ~36 kw. The thing about Chademo is it's...

Supercharger - Merritt BC - De Wolf Way

I was there the BC Day long weekend as well (July 31st) and they had a "Tesla Valet" tent so I suspect they could move your car when a spot became free. Also, when it wasn't so busy they used cones to block off ever other stall on the V1 charger to avoid the lower charge rate of sharing. My...

    Supercharger - Strathmore, AB

Stopped here a couple times on a road trip from BC. First was on the way to Drumheller and then on the way back from Dinosaur Provincial Park. This location is exactly what Superchargers should be. Fast with a good selection of restaurants nearby. First time we had lunch at Original Joes and on...

Advice needed: Future-proofing my garage for home charging before finishing basement

Not sure why you say a 50 amp 14-50 won't charger faster than a 30 amp 14-30. The 14-30 would be good for 24 amps continuous while the 14-50 could do up to 40 amps continuous, though the Tesla mobile connector tops out at 32 amps. Still, 24 > 32. I have a Model 3 LR AWD, so I had wiring good...

    NEMA 14-50 Adapter

I'm curious, how often and where do you end up using the UMC on the road?
  7. B

    NEMA 14-50 Adapter

The main reason to get the wall connector is, if you have a LR and want slightly faster charging (though it's unlikely it will matter to you very often if ever) or you want to take your mobile connector with you frequently. Some people also prefer the look of the wall connector. I have a LR AWD...

    Supercharger - Princeton, BC

I look forward to this one. I've dug through the town council minutes in the past hoping to find something but never did. This one should make for an anxiety free drive from the Lower Mainland to the Penticton area via Highway 3. It's already possible via Highway 5 (Merritt) but more options are...

First Time Model 3 Purchase in BC - Some Questions

Wall connector is not necessary. The moblie connector is fast enough if you have a 14-50 (240v) outlet and adapter.

FSD Upgrade Price Decrease (EAP Owners)

I paid $4k for regular AP and the $9200 would bring my total for FSD over $13k BEFORE taxes. Including taxes gets messier because the $4k was subject to luxury car taxes (LR AWD in BC). I'm mainly too lazy to do the math but even "regular" price for the upgrade is not a bad deal for you. FYI...

    Charge level vs limited regen

I find there's a noticeable difference when I get the "Regen Limited, Will improve as vehicle is driven" message, even on city streets ~50km/h. I've never seen the snow flake icon but I get the former message when my car has been parked at work all day and it's 10 C or less outside.

Why does my phone access not work periodically?

This. I find my phone doesn't always work that well, but holding the handle pulled for a few seconds works a lot better than trying over and over with the added benefit that you don't look as silly either. If that doesn't work, chances are the app isn't running anymore (I think most commonly...

Tesla donates chargers to Parks Canada

My guess is the post is "on the line" between the two spaces. The charger on the left seems to be Tesla specific, with the expectation that you will back in (and plug in on the left rear of the car.) The charger on the right seems to have a much longer cable and I'm guessing it's a J1772 and...

ICBC Claims and Body Repairs - Tesla Approved Shops?

So I found you can search for Tesla approved shops on their Website: Body Shop Support There's one in Kelowna. You could as for an estimate from the body shop privately. At $1000 deductible plus whatever your rate increase is, it might make more sense not to make a claim and pay it out of...

The app is no longer compatible with your device...

The NFC requirement explains which devices of mine are compatible and which are not. Hopefully they sort this out soon because NFC may be cool to support but shouldn't be required. There are lots of Apps that can use NFC but still work without it.

The app is no longer compatible with your device...

Interesting, I see that it's compatible with "some" of my devices, namely the Pixel 3a I've since given to my wife and my 2nd generation Nexus 7 (old tablet). It's showing not compatible with my 10" Samsung Tab A, my Moto G5 Plus, or the LeEco Le Max 2 that I'm currently using as my main phone...

    am I making a mistake

NEMA 14-50 is fine for AWD. It's what I use to charge, and will get you a fully charge on an AWD overnight. It's already a lot faster than most public L2 stations. I had a chance to get a rebate HPWC installation but I already had the NEMA 14-50 and couldn't justify it even if it would only end...

    BC PST not correct?

Was the price ever low enough to avoid the luxury car tax in BC? I vaguely recall early on people complaining the AC tax was enough to push it over.

    am I making a mistake

Curious why you'd expect incentives in mid December. You mean a potential discount on an inventory car so they can deliver by end of quarter? I think the best you could hope for is free paint or wheel upgrade, or you may not get anything.

    Supercharger - Maple Creek, SK

If they want them live by then, they need to start lighting them up pretty soon. Tech(s) will need to drive to each of them with a Tesla for testing. Between the driving, charging and testing, it will take some time, so it's not likely they will all go live the same day. Contrary to what some...

    Winter Tire Efficiency

As others have said, winter tires will cause some range loss due to increase rolling resistance due to the fact that they are softer. Are your tire pressures the same? Lower temperatures will cause lower tire pressure and lower tire pressure will also increase rolling resistance. Granted...

    Supercharger - Richmond, BC

I know someone that got a ticket perhaps a couple decades ago, and that was precisely the argument from the officer writing it. It's not that you're parked the wrong way, it's that you had to drive on the wrong side of the street to park there. If you can't plug in facing the right way, you'll...
  27. B

    Supercharger - Richmond, BC

Why not? The reason for the ticket is it's not safe to get in/out of the spot parked backwards, so charging or not and port location are irrelevant.

FYI, you can get ticketed for parking the wrong way.

V10 in Canada - what will it come with?

I think most brands have something, with TACC being especially common. For some the lane keeping will only intervene if you drift out of your lane, or other ones (e.g. my 2015 Subaru Outback) may simply alert rather than steer.

V10 in Canada - what will it come with?

It wasn't the owner that sent the video to the news, it was random bystanders that didn't know who or where the owner was. The news on the radio today seems to suggest smart summon is illegal here so there's a good chance it will get disabled again in Canada.

Federal 10% luxury tax on Models S and X

There's isn't much need for an off peak time because our electricity comes mostly from hydro. I suppose it might help even the load on the grid if that becomes an issue. It would be fair to use the "farm" rate for EV charging. It's a flat rate that falls between the step 1 and step 2 raters. Of...

    Order in, wait begins

I haven't seen any American studies. American articles seem to reference the Australian study though I did see mention of a New Zealand study as well. And maybe you should doubt your own thinking. According to studies, white cars are less likely to be in accidents than red. Depending on the study, white or yellow cars had the lowest probability of being in an accident.

My understanding is the range bump is only for SR and SR+ much like the LR RWD got a "range bump" a while back.

Federal 10% luxury tax on Models S and X

In BC the luxury tax on cars starts to come into effect at $55k already. I recall SR+ buyers being hit by the extra 1% because of this, and for the LR and PAWD you're looking at 3% more. I guess a federal 10% would be more like the extra 8% on vehicles 125k-150k. Purchase price...

    What's your rated range again?

My overnight charge to "80%" hit 399km again a few days ago. Actual charge was 82%, but this is consistent with what I used to see when new, ~400km and ~82% (with it set to 80% charge limit on the screen). Recently I was getting pretty consistent 389km to 391km with the same setting (but I don't...

BC EV Charger Rebate Program $700

Yeah, I'm having a hard time coming up with a reason to do it. I usually spend less than 2 hours a day charging, so cutting that down to 1 h 20 min doesn't really benefit me. The best I can come up with is that would make my mobile connector a backup in case something happens to my wall charger...

BC EV Charger Rebate Program $700

Anyone going the DIY route? I did my NEMA 14-50 install myself but I'm considering changing it to the Tesla Wall Connector. I'm in Coquitlam and it looks like the inspection(s) would fall under Technical Safety BC and cost $108. The wiring I ran is sufficient for 60A, is in flex conduit and...

    Just got V10 - Ontario

Yes, you can search everything from the "music" screen when you make it full size. Then you can filter to caraoke. What I need is the ability to create a caraoke playlist, because my son just wants to hear the songs from the Disney Cars movie, and none of the others.

    Are these new V10 feature?

What's new is that my turn signals don't stay on in reverse. Annoying when parallel parking or waiting to back into my driveway. 3D Maxpider Model 3 Trunk and Frunk Liners in Canada?

BC EV Charger Rebate Program $700

From the public j plug stations I've used, I believe you could leave the Tesla j plug adapter installed on the wall charger. It would be almost as seamless as the mobile adapter that way. Obviously the j plug with adapter would be a bit more bulky, and instead of opening the charge port door...

V10 in Canada - what will it come with?

Teslafi is showing about 82% of cars on V10, so I wouldn't panic if you haven't got it yet. It will most likely show up for you in the next few days.
