I have a similar situation and was told that the car will download the update in the background while you're out driving around. I have poor signal in my garage and have received one update so far.

Here's something new to try. Put all the tone controls at +12dB. You heard me, put them all at the top. (Turn the volume down to compensate of course). I think it sounds better. It shouldn't, but it does. Maybe some math issues in the equalizer are truncating bits at normal settings. Or...

Did some more experimenting - my educated guess is that bluetooth streaming only supports the SBC codec. I think this would account for the artifacts I'm hearing. I will get a USB key and see if that sounds better.

After nearly 2 weeks of driving a non-Performance Model S, I can't imagine needing more performance than I have now. This thing isn't lacking for power. It jumps off the line and zips in and out of traffic effortlessly.

My experience is that the Model S gets better range driving on the freeway than start/stop traffic in town. Back on topic: I was just at the Costa Mesa service center dealing with a minor issue and there were 15 or so cars being prepped for delivery.

I agree, XM quality is pretty lousy. Not just in the Tesla but in other cars also. It's fine if you just want to have some music on in the background or listen to news. If I really want to listen to music I stream from my phone. I'm also becoming a fan of Slacker in the car. Much better...

I did the opposite - I put the guard gate transponder on the black patch next to the mirror, and got the Toll Road people to swap my transponder for one of the front license plate mounted external transponders. It's a very clean arrangement. 30 cars, wow.

A little creepy if you ask me, but I'm at 1.15.8 now so no complaints.

I am with PRJIM 100%. The Model S is "simply unbelievable." I would really hate to see someone miss out on two years of driving a Model S due to issues, which, in my mind, are nearly insignificant.

@Zythryn - I agree the internet radio is a pleasant surprise. For one thing the audio quality is considerably better than XM, and if you don't like a song you can just skip to the next one. We pulled up at the kids' school this morning blasting Dubstep (my 12-yr old son's choice, not mine)...

Update - I managed to get my Delivery Experience Specialist on the phone this morning. Short version is that my car is delayed for an unknown amount of time, probably a couple of weeks. I think they're doing the best they can and I'm cool with that.
