    Mobile connector maximum amperage fluctuating

I’ve had my Model Y for about 2 days now, and am charging at home with a NEMA 14-50 outlet and the “corded mobile connector” (the 40-amp version). I picked the corded model because if I come home at my latest usual time and plug in with 20%, 9.6kW will get me to 80% before my earliest usual...

Advice Needed for Install of Charger PLUS Outlet

My electrician scouted out my situation and is coming to do an install next week. He's a great guy and knows his stuff but isn't familiar with EV chargers yet. I'm very particular about things and want to do this right. My electric panel is also a very long run from the garage so I don't to do...

    14-50 Outdoor Install

Just finished installing NEMA 14-50 outdoor receptacle for charging in anticipation of my Model Y delivery. You can save a lot of money doing this yourself if your particular situation isn’t too complicated and you are confident in basic electrical skills. Worst part is dealing with the...

    Updating Outlet Charging Question

Hello. I’m trying to get my ducks in a row before placing my payment to get the vehicle production started. I’ve had 4 electricians come out and survey the covered parking and 3/4 decided the smartest, least headache route would be tapping into the main (rental apartment) and running the wires...

    50 Amp mobile EVSE options

I did some serious driving and Tesla camping this weekend in some really hot weather. I pulled into a RV site at 10 pm with 7% with my LR RWD. It was over 90 degrees F outside. Plugged in gen2 UMC w/ 14-50 connecTor at 224 VAC and 32 Amp. I needed to charge to at least 90%, sleep in the car...

    Existing Hot Tub Connection

I want to utilize an old hot tub connection located in my backyard to install a NEMA 14-50 plug. The connection labeled on the panel is connected to a 60A breaker. I'll include an image of the existing wiring. Clearly there is a heavy gauge wiring which I think I can connect the 14-50...

    WTB: Nema 14-50 adapter

Looking for a Nema 14-50 adapter for the Gen II Mobile Connector. I'm not looking to spend double the price and can wait for Tesla to re-stock. But figured if someone had one they didn't need, I would take it off your hands.

    NEMA 14-50 Order

I ordered a 14-50 adapter around 6/11 and it never shipped. I have sent onlineorders several e-mail messages about this shipment. (They charged my credit card) Well, I got no replies. I then went to customer support chat and they can't find any order for me by order# or e-mail address. He is...

    Charging dilemma

I just ordered my first Tesla (75D), which should be here in June. I'm trying to get my charging situation squared away, and I'd love some input. I work at home, so I don't have a regular commute to worry about. My house has a 125A main breaker, and my electrician determined I have 26A of...

    Corded Mobile Connector -- 120v across the L1 - L2 legs?

Hey all, I'm looking at the Corded Mobile Connector as a semi-stationary charging solution while I keep my UMC in the car for the odd "emergency" use. I have some special circumstances that require me to use a lot of RV-30 amp connections for which I created my own adapter that uses the NEMA...

    Extension Cord For 14-50 Charging

I'm preparing to embark on a road trip from California to the Northwest. Undoubtedly, I'll be using the Washer/Dryer 14-50 outlets of friends to charge my X. Keeping in mind that I have the High Amperage Upgraded Charging capability, what extension cord would you recommend? Any trial-and-error...

    Hardwire a 14-50 plug to a UMC

Got an early UMC from a friend with visible melted plastic between the connector and the 14-50 adapter. During charging the AMPs would drop to 20 and clearly was not safe to continue using it that way. By the way, here is a disclaimer: I shall not be held responsible for any damage to hardware...

    Will this 14-50 work?

I'm still trying to decide if I should buy a HPWC or just install a NEMA 14-50, I stopped at the local hardware store and picked up on 14-50 outlet, it is different than the others i've seen and it doesn't say NEMA anywhere on it. I attached pictures and was wondering will this work if I got...

Test our NEMA 14-50 in Winthrop, WA?

Hi, we recently had our electrician add a NEMA 14-50 plug to the new ski waxing shed at our overnight rental house in Winthrop. We're not Tesla owners and we want to make sure that the first guests who use the system won't experience any surprises. Is there anyone who lives nearby or travels...

how does charger not blow circuit breaker?

so I'm curious, if I don't need a hpwc to charge my tesla -- I can use a 240v/50a outlet, or a 240v/30a outlet, or even a 120v/15a outlet -- how do I not blow the circuit breaker? if I plug an appliance (like an arc welder, say) that draws a continuous 40 amps at 240 volts into a 240v/30a...

Use HPWC with 14-50 - instructions?

I'm thinking now I'd like to keep the free supplied adapter cable in the car with me and get the HPWC for home, even though we just installed the 14-50 plug. I don't mind using the HPWC at 40 amps still so was hoping there was a way to just wire it with a plug into the 14-50 outlet instead of...

Cottage available for rent in Balm Beach (10km West of Midland, ON)

Hello fellow Tesla owners, We have a cottage on Georgian Bay in the village of Balm Beach that we rent out. I put a 14-50 in the garage last summer so I could charge my Model S while I was there. I figured I would let the Tesla community know about it in case they are looking for a vacation...

Dual 120V to NEMA 14-50 adapter

Is there a dual 120V to NEMA 14-50 adapter available? I can't seem to find one. If so, does anyone have any experience with it using the UMC? How many miles (or kW) per hour of charge do you get? This would seem to be a better choice rather than plugging into the standard 120V alone when other...
