‘Spectacular Failures’ Await Electric Vehicle Industry -- Wards Auto Not particularly surprising analysis, except I don't expect most of the failures to be spectacular. The deaths of companies like Aptera or Coda seem slow and drawn out, though inevitable. Someone like Fisker failing, however, would be spectacular given the political fallout that would follow.
And how is this different from any other technology company? Start-ups take on the big guys every day. Most of them fail but a few live to become viable companies.
It's not any different. That's why I find the title a bit sensationalist. I don't think many of these companies failing would be big news.
How will the spectacular failures of the EV Industry be any more spectacular than the failures of our current auto industry? Failures ( some more spectacular than others ): Fighting to prevent seatbelts Stealing intermittent wipers Overpowering airbags Ford Pinto Edsel Saturn Fiero Gremlin/Pacer AMC GM's bankruptcy The El Camino Wood Paneled Station Wagons Tucker DeLorean Fiat in America Renault in America Lada Yugo Diesel in America The 1996 Ford Taurus design Corvair Pontiac Aztek Chevy Chevette Chevy Vega
Agree Doug!...what will be far more spectacular will be the first death of a major ICE vehicle manufactuerer due to failing to adapt to the forthcoming industry shift to EV's...
They want to predict the early demise of something that can be recharged literally ANYWHERE. Electricity is ubiquitous! It's far more common than filling stations. It's the decentralization that scares them... they can't control how it's charged so they can't get all the money.
Apparently Ward's take away from the 2008 oil price spike, confirmation of Peak Oil, unrest in the middle east & bankruptcy of GM is that EV companies will spectacularly fail.
