Here in my Santa Clara, UT neighborhood, we have 3 Model 3s and one S within a 3 block distance. Mine gets a lot of attention most places, but the most attention comes from parking at one of the local middle schools, where a number of kids pretty much worship them.
I'm guessing you SC at the casino up there. I was charging at the Eastview mall SC (all by myself as usual) last September, some very sweet, senior citizen woman drove up to me sitting in my car. She obviously wanted to ask something. I got out and stepped to her window. I swear! She asked: "Sir, where do you put the coins?", while looking at the SC station. I struggled to keep the most friendly and respectful smile; "Ma'am, that doesn't take coins...". About 5 minutes of conversation ensued. She had no idea that my car was electric (yes, even with my license plate) and thought the "hose" was related to vacuuming it out. Where I live (down in Naples, NY), I went to insure the car at my local agent. The 'girl' asked me all kinds of questions, as usual. What year, VIN, make, model, etc.. She then asked "How many cylinders?" I answered "None. it's an electric car". Without missing a beat she made that famous '20 something, oh so annoyed face', and said "Okay, how many ELECTRIC cylinders then!?" She assumed that Tesla was a foreign Italian car! Yes, although not nearly as much, Teslas ares still not well known in these parts
Maybe you guys are gonna think we are crazy, me and my wife kiss whenever we see a Tesla... haha, nothing crazy, just a little smooch. we are hoping to one day join the ranks. We live in orange county so we see quite a few when we drive together. Makes the drives to the Spectrum fun
Notice the HOV stickers. Being able to drive to working in the HOV lane is the #1 reason to buy an EV in the SF Bay Area.
If my wife and I followed your practice we would not be able to drive safely where we live. I see a Tesla every 30 seconds or so.
Strange, weird, or cool. But, since buying the Model X I have given up caring about the price of gas.
I have been driving full ev since 2013, I still care because I want it to kill bad driving behavior and dumb cars. Off rock mall crawler when you work a desk job is dumb
We have got very special cars of which we should be proud. I smile every time I walk out to get in my model X - and also shout Tesla whenever I see another
I think it's by mail only right now and it takes about 2 months from the time you mail the application. I don't know why DMV said you can't get it, unless you purchased a used car and the previous owner already had the HOV decals. Here is more info: Clean Air Vehicle Decals - High Occupancy Vehicle Lane Usage here is the form to fill out and mail with a $22.00 check to DMV: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/wcm/connect/65b04120-4f15-4e90-81d0-74ce63a147d6/reg1000.pdf?MOD=AJPERES&CVID=
