I did 84 months at 1.99, and will probably pay it off in 50-60 without penalty. Low cost to borrow means I can use cash for investments that will make significantly more money than the cost to borrow, and this gives me the most flexibility.

In all fairness, the original post said up to 84 months. If they are still offering 1.99% for an 84 month loan, there is a good chance they could be offering something less for a 72 or 60 month loan.

I’m just referencing length. Interest rate is irrelevant to what I said. 84 months is insane for a car.

I joined the NC Consumer Council and wasted $20. Submitted my application over 5 days ago and haven't heard back from anyone. Tried to call them 2-3 times this past week b/c I got a VIN yesterday.


I already opened a DCU account in December and decided to stick with them. Called them at 3pm (had to do a call back and they called by 3:30). Loan docs were in my email by 5:30pm and they are mailing out the check today. I even got the sales tax included (MVPA shows $0 sales tax). I have to register it in my state and pay sales tax out of pocket, so that was nice as well.

Need to be a member *and* have full direct deposit going into your checking account with them to get it near anywhere that 1.25%.

I only have $500 per paycheck going to DCU and I still got 1.24%, but I have heard them saying full check so who knows.

Becoming a member is easy, but the jump from 65 to 72 months is significant, even as a member with direct deposit the lowest 72 months is 2.24% (not worth it if 65 is 1.24%)
