10% drain in 40 minutes, parked

I thought you’d be interested in my battery draw rate test without leaving the garage.

Two days ago, I prepared for a long trip by setting my charge level to 100%. I did this in the evening intending to stop the charge before I went to bed and use the estimated time left readout to schedule my charge start in the morning so my battery wouldn’t sit at 100% most of the night and would only hit full charge just before my departure.

As you may have guessed, I forgot about this and went to bed. But I did check my battery level before lights out, and to my horror found it had already reached 100% charge. Not wanting to leave the car all night at 100%, and not wanting to go out and drive it down to 90%, I did an experiment.

Unplugged from the wall charger.
Rolled down all the windows.
Turned climate to high heat, high fan.
Turned all the seat heaters to full.
Turned sentry mode on.
Turned high beams on.

It took 40 minutes for the battery to drain down to 90%. In retrospect, it would have been far quicker to just drive around at night to get to 90%, but I didn’t want to go out at that point.
