AFAIK it is a color that is/was offered on European Signature Roadsters... "insane green."

That looks like a standard Lotus color; one of the guys in the local motorsports club has an Elise that looks very much like that. Here's a crappy phone photo:

Most the Roadster colors were just renamed Lotus colors.


I think that $115K MSRP (before options) reflects the premium Tesla was charging at the time to buy what they considered a "first model year car" (2008MY).

Kind of curious, is the date of your pics accurate, your pictures of it being assembled are dated May 28, 2009 and the date of the Daimler/ Tesla deal in German was May19, 2009

Actually, I think it makes sense that it would be spotted in Menlo Parked about 10 days later. They probably just packed it up after the Germany event and air-shipped it over.
I wonder if they pulled one ESS+drivetrain in Europe, and installed a replacement when it got to Menlo Park?

I suppose they could have sent it with the drivetrain already installed, but that much weight to air-freight might actually be worth removing and replacing.

#100 is now in its new home in Chicago and I have to say I've owned a lot of cars and nothing compares to driving a Tesla! Also I have to say this is an incredible forum a must visit from any prospective or new owner it helps weave thru all the B.S. out there!
