100 years ago, and in 100 years from now?

Looking at cars from 1918, just to see where we were 100 years ago I can't help but wonder what cars will be like in another 100 years.

Given the pace of change, you may well be right.

100 years ago the world was charging, but much more slowly than what we are experiencing now. The current rate of technological change is so rapid that it can be disorienting for older generations.

100 years from now what people in the wealthy countries use for personal transportation will likely be so different that we can barely imagine it.
 
Nothing to say that we are not reaching boundaries of physics (who knows)... what will really change is the way societies organise and the way wealth and work is distributed. That will change beyond recognition barring nuclear war and ecological catastrophe. First priority is to make planet sustainable, and then remove the Mexican standoff with nuclear weapons.
