So, the small roof panel in one of my FWDs cracked upon closing and the SC is quoting $1025.00 for that tiny piece of glass. Does that seem right??

A passenger found my driver side left falcon window was cracked. No impact point; just a line going through the glass. Cincinnati Service Center covered it under warranty so I never saw the price of the part. There's an eBay listing for $450, which may be about right. Labor is $175/hr, so do they think it's going to take 3.25 hours to fix it?

Holy crap! That's insane for a piece of glass.
Is that the estimate before you take it in or have they already fixed it? Do you still have a warranty and have they suggested it could be covered?
If these things start breaking from just opening and closing, then how is that the customer's fault?

I know @lonnielevi was just using it as a price reference, but looks like quite a shady seller. Almost no feedback and using stolen pictures.
Found the original eBay listing but the part actually seems to be a right side glass for $25 bucks more.
And to add to the misery, Tesla is claiming it's impact, so not covered under warranty and State Farm is saying they won't cover glass in the FWD because... it costs too much and breaks too often. Screwed both ways

Cost seems correct. One thing to note if you decide to source it on your own (or even have tesla fix it). Make sure you get the correct color glass. Early Model X cars have a UV coating tint (creates the orange glow). If you get a newer glass, then it won't match the other side.

I had the same issue -- and not covered under warranty because it was caused by an "impact." I paid a similar amount.

Ask them to show you evidence of the impact.
Yes, I was wondering the same thing. What kind of impact can cause this and what evidence is there of an impact?

I had a huge pine cone roll down a hill and fall on one of mine while waiting in a road repair queue. Unbelievably loud in the car. Got out and saw the cone next to the car but luckily it did not break the glass.

Sounds about right. To put it in perspective, the glass roof on the Mclaren 720s door costs $7100 to replace.
