12 volt failure

I have a December 14 p85d w 35k I just received a low battery warning. Do you think Tesla will cover it under warranty? Is it best to replace it myself or could there be an issue with the charging system. My two previous model s had their batteries replaced under warranty but they hand less miles on them.

You will still have to go to Tesla to get the battery. I don't believe that it is available anywhere else.

Some have replaced the batteries on their own though I believe it's more involved than a typical car battery pull and drop. Not sure on the warranty. They sure have replaced a lot of 12v batteries though.

My 2015 70D with 34k miles got the 12 volt battery warning last month.
It was replaced by service for no charge.

My nearly 5 year old P85 is now on it's 4th (or 5th) 12v battery. Seems to almost be an annual replacement item. I believe this is why future designs are moving away from the 12v altogether. Every one covered under warranty.
