12v battery replacement

Hi,

I have had the warning message now for about a week and I have been researching replacing it myself. I have a model s 70D and from the videos it looks fairly straight forward. However, I have seen some reports that a software tweek for a new battery to be accepted by the car. I have 3 questions if people could help:
1. Is it as straight forward as it looks on a D model?
2. Does the car need anything from Tesla if you fit a new 12v battery yourself?
3. Where can I actually get a comparable battery in the UK?

Why don't you get the service centre to do it, should be really quick and not much of a charge?

you might be better posting on a US forum. a battery is a battery and there will be a lot more owners who have been through it there since there are more/olds cars there

how much is a battery change at the service centre?

A friend of mine up here (Reno in America) said she paid $72 for the service charge, plus the cost of the battery, but didn't say how much the battery cost. Time to replace was 30 minutes. No software change needed for her car, a 2016 X.

edit: Oh, I just asked and she paid $450 for the battery !!!! ouch. So it cost her $520 total. That sounds like a lot, but maybe not for that type of battery. Not sure.
