12v battery upgrade - worth it?

Is your car in warranty? Tesla will replace as often as necessary for free, probably in your driveway or work parking lot. If your car is not covered by warranty, the analysis is made somewhat more complex. The 12v has been replaced twice on my X.

Will they replace it under the extended warranty here in Canada?

My June 2018 Model X is still on its first battery. Most nights it is parked inside with Sentry Mode off and door unlocked.

My 2016 model S just advised me of the need to book a 12v battery replacement… not bad life span

Somebody on this forum mentioned the 12v bat doesn't charge up if the bank is under 45%.

If this is true then it could be a problem when daily driving to work and the car sits without maintaining the 12v.

My 2016 Model X (delivered Oct 2016) still has original 12v. I'm really surprised.

My 2013 Model S is on its 3rd 12v battery. I purchased and installed a Ohmmu 12v battery because there was a shortage of Tesla 12v batteries at that time. I'm considering whether to install an Ohmmu battery in the X when the time comes.

2017 X, 12V battery replaced in June 2022. Plenty of warning given, and replacement cost was pretty reasonable, not sure going aftermarket is worth the hassle.

I bought ohmmu due to availability. After a brief notification I just wanted to have the peace of mind that I wasn't going to need a tow and I'm not close enough for mobile service.

I suspect there will be other players in the aftermarket 12V Li batteries for various EVs as time progresses. The Ohmuu battery I bought for my Model Y Perf wasn't cheap, and it discharges fairly frequently causing an error to show up. Whether it be from my kids use of the car's onboard entertainment features, or through voltage fluctuations caused by over the air updates, I'm not sure. The Ohmuu is light however, and it's a worthwhile performance investment. If you buy an Ohmuu, have a trickle charger, like those from Dakota Lithium to bring the level back up to around 13.6V as needed. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but one thing that bugs me about Ohmuu, is they never responded to my e-mail about the problems I was having. Disregarding customer inquries are ok with their company.

I haven't had any problems. How old is the battery?
