Odd Twist of battery fate - I'm fitting some lawn & Garden U1-7 batteries to another vehicle, and I thought - hmmmm this looks like the same size battery the Tesla has for it's 12V battery. Since I replaced the 12V battery myself last time I got a battery error warning, I have a spare floating around my garage (mail order, no core return). I'm not advocating a U1-7 lawn and garden battery for your Model S battery replacement - this would take q bit of connector adaption - but wanted to let people know that there are other 12V batteries the same size out there. The U1-7 is a cheap battery - if I remember right $50, and you get a core fee return too.
