A former coworker of mine had that exact car. What a piece of junk! He just drove it to be different. Found him once on the side of a highway, out of gas. The gauge didn't work... among other, uh, things.

Oh now you are giving it away. The VW Thing reference was a lot harder, and intentionally ambiguous...
I was trying not to overtly "out" that Roadster.

I can't believe that the ideal range on the battery says 242 miles in a 2008 with 15K miles.

It's possible if the car was kept in a cool place with the battery at a low SOC. My early 2010 Roadster has similar mileage and charges to 245 miles in Range mode. There's also some variability between battery packs so this one might have started with more capacity than others.
