In my opinion, they disappear when they are painted black — all you see are the brakes and calipers.I agree. The wheels look bigger with the covers on. They look tiny painted black.
In OC they want 600 - 1,000 to take wheels off car, tires off wheels and powder coat. After they will reinstall all and one said they would rebalance tires before mounting. If you don’t mind, what did SD charge and for what servive?Bradford Powder Coating in San Diego
Rich - This is exactly the spec I am looking at but haven't been able to see any powder coated gemini's in person. Are you able to provide any additional photos from other angels?I had my set powder coated for $650, located in Torrance CA. View attachment 605174
@Yguy , may I ask where did you get the red break caliper covers?View attachment 591183 Done. So much better. View attachment 591182
Where did you get quotes $120/rim? I am in north jersey too and I'm only seeing $150 eaI haven't seen any powder coated Geminis yet, but several people have used plastidip to make the rims black. I plan on powder coating in the next 2-3 weeks and have been quoted $120/wheel in the North Jersey area. I love a good dark gray wheel!

+1 -- all you see are the brakes and calipers. Exactly why I gloss black powder coated my Geminis. In my opinion, they disappear when they are painted black — all you see are the brakes and calipers.
What shop was this at? Interested in doing the sameI haven't seen any powder coated Geminis yet, but several people have used plastidip to make the rims black. I plan on powder coating in the next 2-3 weeks and have been quoted $120/wheel in the North Jersey area. I love a good dark gray wheel!
Wondering if you ever got thoseI used to think i wanted to plastidip my Gemini's but the results I have seen are kind of pale vs the darker matte black I like from the induction wheels. I think RPMTesla shows an example of a powder coated Gemini wheel (not hubcaps) in this picture of their center Y caps

I realize it’s been a while since this post. I was wondering if you ever got the powder coating done (I’d be interested in satin black like the 20” Inductions) and if it haze held up well. If they did a good job, I’d also be curious where you went, since I’m in the NNJ area too.I haven't seen any powder coated Geminis yet, but several people have used plastidip to make the rims black. I got mine rims and hubcaps powder coated to satin black at Exotic Car-LA. $175/rim and $50/hubcaps. they did a great job. They have been giving me free curb rash repair on the rims. must be my bad driving, not wanting to park too far away from the curb or squeezing into a tight parking spot.Rich - This is exactly the spec I am looking at but haven't been able to see any powder coated gemini's in person. wondering this as well...or at least can you put the aero covers on model Y back on powder coated rims?Has anybody powder coated their rims and aero covers black and kept them both on?
I prefer to look of the aero covers.
Sure, why not? The Aero covers are held in place by clips to the center 'hole' of the wheel. I can't speak about scratching them, however, as I've never had p/c'd wheels....wondering this as well...or at least can you put the aero covers on model Y back on powder coated rims?
I believe I've read from others that the gemini caps do in fact scratch the finish. Which is a bummer since I'd like to have the option of using them after getting the wheels powder coated black.Sure, why not?
