1X's Neo Humanoid Robot

When I fist saw this video I was pretty sure this was a guy in a suit cf. Tesla's Optimus in 2021.

But it seems real and pretty impressive.

The company is based in and does their hardware in Norway.
They do their AI work in Sunnyvale, CA.

And then Skynet became aware…..
Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Skynet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th...
We're a couple days too late.

Regarding Neo looking like a person in a suit, it reminds me of the Humanoids from that 1979 Disney movie, The Black Hole.

They seemed like robots, but when that mask was removed, the dark secret was revealed that they were enslaved crew of the Cygnus.

They use very weird language, dversity and compliance. But all the luck, can't wait for a home aid.

Preferably these humanoid robots should be able to run open source software so that the community is not actually dependent on the manufacturers. The manufacturers ofcoruse have the data, but perhaps they can sell/rent the data to developers.

I didn't find it weird. The guy is not an native English speaker, so is probably not be attaching the same baggage to words you might be.
In context, he was saying if you're training a humanoid AI you want a diversity of environments, as in the varied surroundings one might find in a home setting, rather than a standardized lab environment. IRRC, compliance was used in terms of a material property. A material with high compliance is more squishy than stiff. So if you have a robot that's interacting with humans, you want it somewhat squishy so that the human is less likely to be injured.

Do robots talk in the future, l would like to hear interactions

When the Robot can put together IKEA Furniture they will have a very popular Robot. What will the Robots be programed to do? Can the Robot Cook, Clean, walk the Dog. Can it understand verbal commands?
Personally, I enjoy putting stuff together like Ikea furniture (and honestly can’t understand why people find it so difficult,) but yes - they have built a very nice physical frame but the functional capabilities are what actually matter.

There was some discussion about Optimus in another thread and it was pointed out that the humanoid form is very versatile but not very specialized meaning it will probably not excel at doing anything. This technology is clearly still in its infancy and how it will be used and how it will be useful remain to be seen. It’s nice to see companies like Tesla and 1x though - without them we’d never see anything.

They wont be "programmed" to do anything... thats not how AI works. You'll be able to ask it to do something, and it will figure out the most efficient/safe/proper way. and it will learn to do it better each time.

Not sure if the power source-battery will last very long. Robots for doing simple tasks will be a novelty at first. In real life scenarios -public service I see lots of lawsuits, bug fixes, things gone amuck with robo videos. We’re not there yet. For now, just a toy.
