20” Induction disaster

Having lovingly looked after my MY with 20” inductions since March, yesterday, thanks to the World’s stupidest mutil-story car park exit I have curb rash to one of the rear wheels. Honesty, who designed these stupid zig zag curbs once through the exit barrier? Impossible to navigate the car without touching one even at 2mph.

Anyone know of either good available UK products to fix or better still a recommended detailer/restorer in London/Essex with experience working on these wheels?

There is a company (lepsons.com) specialising in repairing alloys, I had one of my Areo wheels fixed by them (a repair shop sent the wheel to their shop) and now it looks like new. Otherwise you can check this repair shop (Near Norwood Junction): Jayams - Google Search, they do good touch ups.

I hate the recent trend towards wheels that sit proud of the tyres. Tyres are the perfect way to protect the alloys, and for the past 20+ years I’ve enjoyed the ability to touch kerbs without worrying about wheel damage.

I took one look at the aeros and immediately bought 3 years insurance covering wheel/body/interior damage for £300. It’s not an ideal solution, but at least it stops the worry for myself and my wife.

Invest in something like Alloy Gator - they have uk wide fitting I got MY Inductions done they look fine and don’t notice them if you choose black (however I think an accent trim would work depending on car colour).

Something I do miss is the 360 or birds eye view that my BMW X5 had - wish Tesla would do something similar for navigating tight spaces (multi story car parks and drive through are designed to curb black wheels :( )

I miss birds eye view and it seems an oversight to not have it considering it’s just one more camera needed low down up front.

Never heard of alloy insurance before? How much - roughly - would one expect to pay for that? Separately from your main policy?
I paid £180 for the cover. It doesn’t cover the replacement of the alloy wheels but it covers for 4x claims each year for three years. I’m about to make a claim for two.

I was going to get something similar (Ala) to prepare for the inevitable, but I read the exclusion list and they don't cover matt finishes or weirdly cracked /buckled alloys! The one you posted quoted me £350.

I would love to hear of a successful repair on the inductions before paying for another insurance, that will try worm it's way out of paying.

I took out Gap with them and got a discount. I’ll post back once I’ve booked a repair.
