I need to replace my tires on the induction wheels (got 17k miles out of the stock tires). I ordered the Pilot Sport AS4 in the stock 255 /40 R20 size from Discount Tire. Apparently they are on national backorder with no timeline of when they will be available so they said the 275 /35 R20 would work fine and be a little wider which may protect the rims better. He also said it would only affect the speedometer reading by 1mph at 65mph. I am a little skeptical to change the size so wanted to know what you all think and if you have any suggestions.

20" Induction tire replacement with Michelin Pilot AS4 275 /35 R20

A 275/35-20 tire has a sidewall that's about .25" smaller than a 255/40-20 tire, with the former being about .50" smaller overall in diameter than the latter. This will exacerbate the optimistic Tesla speedometer, which reads about 1 MPH slow on the highway on the factory tire size, as measured by GPS. So basically, when your speedometer says 65 MPH, your actually speed will be closer to 63 MPH. My advice would be to go to a 265/40-20 tire size, which is about .30" larger in overall diameter than the factory 255/40-20 tire size. This will give you a bit more width, a bit more sidewall, and just about fix the optimistic speedometer (many cars have optimistic speedometers). And the best part is, according to TireRack, the Michelin PS A/S4's are in stock in 265/40-20 size

275 definitely makes a large sidewall. I think 265/40 is plenty of sidewall without altering the speedo to much. All in personal taste though.
Those look good. 8.5 or 95" width martians? stain or gloss gunmetal. Look great whatever they are. Do you notice a difference with tires being more spongy on corners?

What is the offset on your Martian? I am very close to ordering 275/40's for our new MYLR with Inductions, but I still haven't seen them verified to work with the stock wheel offset. My only concern is clearance on the knuckle. It *looks* like it should fit fine, but even measuring it will not make up for mounting and trying...
Offset is +45

I went with the 19" TSportline TS5 wheels with 275/45/19 DWS06+ tires. They ride much better for me. As for these, the ride is less bumpy, especially over pot holes and railroad tracks. Not sure it impacted the noise as much. I might be looking to sell the 20" induction wheels with the OEM Goodyear tires, they only have 100 miles on them.
