200mph. What does the Plaid actually need?

Some of the reviews have said that the Plaid S needs just the Arachnid 21” wheels to hit 200mph when Tesla unlocks the functionality.

But on Tesla’s site it says this:

“The indicated Plaid top speed requires proper wheels and tires which will be available in Fall 2021.”

So… I guess that means that the Plaid needs a whole new set of wheels and tires, no matter which one you buy today. Is that right? So confusing…

No. Arachnids, supposedly, will work and so will the upcoming Zero G wheel but the current tires are not speed rated beyond 163mph. New tires will be needed with the arachnids.

My understanding is it's just the tires, as the current tires aren't rated for 200mph.
This page has some explanation about tire speed ratings. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=35&ef_id=EAIaIQobChMIgu_-9tLT8QIVEPrICh3ytwVDEAAYASAAEgLsYvD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!3756!3!354820920362!e!!g!!tire speed ratings&gclsrc=aw.ds
My guess would be they are having Michelin make some Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires especially for them.

That certainly makes sense. Just don’t understand why Tesla mentions wheels in their blurb…

Shouldn’t require new tires at all. My car came with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Speed rating is Y, which is 186+ mph.

I go back on what I said about the current tires not being rated for 200. The 21" tires are apparently.

From the Tesla Model S Manual:
19" All-Season
255/45R19 104W XL
285/40R19 107W XL
19” Summer
255/45R19 104Y XL
285/40R19 107Y XL
21" Summer
265/35ZR21 101(Y) XL
295/30ZR21 102(Y) XL

Only the 21 inch wheels & tires are rated (Y) which is 186+ mph. W is up to 168mph and Y is up to 186mph

Yeah. But what about your missing brackets and parentheses? 😂
