Nice! FYI the headlight surround is CFL as told to me by the guy at the service centre.
Haha, I don't believe that for a moment! I know he works for Tesla ... but LEDs are way more reliable and less prone to failure due to vibration, etc than CFLs. Not to mention the fact that they power on instantly, and are easier to drive and dim. I can't think of a single reason to put a CFL in a Tesla headlight. @ucsbwsr would probably know for sure whether or not they are LEDs; Tesla's info page doesn't make a claim either way.

Beauty! That 100 battery pack is surely going to make a difference on road trips.
Actually, the 100 kW pack really won't make that much of a difference on road trips if you use the SC network.
Who drives 500 km straight without breaks anyway? We all need to eat and stretch our legs. I find the 75D perfect for trips. Just got back from St. Louis and no issues. If you drive off the beaten track, however, then I see it being useful as you can probably do a return trip to the boonies and spend a few days there without charging.

But in winter the 500km of range can be less than 400km (especially driving westbound) which is about three hours at highway speeds and I would say that lots of people drive more than three hours without stopping. The distance from Toronto to Comber is 325km (according to Google maps) so if you live in the GTA having a 100 allows you to skip Woodstock completely. But with smaller packs like a 75 or 85 you might be cutting it rather tight.

Well done Doug. Thank you for comparison!

Incidentally a friend of mine was looking for a cpo tesla and a 2012 red signature just came up with Tesla and has approx 76k on it. Would this be yours?

(They are asking $66,250 fyi and incl a 2yr/160k warranty with it).

Given the issues you had with yours I'd assume they'd have to provide the service history to any new buyer :)

Oh... one other thing I forgot to mention. When I got my Sig P85, it had a grille under the windshield instead of the usual vents. This looked nice and all, but it absolutely sucked at keeping the windshield and side windows clear in the winter. It was so bad it was kinda a big deal. Tesla had to retrofit the car with the usual vents, which solved the problem completely.

The new car has the grille again. My delivery specialist assured me that it will clear the windshield very effectively. I believe him but will be verifying this in about six months.

That does sound like it could be mine. Same mileage. It's a P85 - is that the same?

Surprisingly good price.

There were no active issues with it when traded, no problems since the winter.

Yep same P85. He's looking for a P85+ with AP which is somewhat of a unicorn as there were very few ever made before everything became 'D'.

Methinks if you do it right, the 100 kWh pack will permit faster travel than a smaller pack, regardless of how far you can travel on a full charge. Larger packs charge at peak kW for longer, so if you keep the SoC low enough to arrive near(er) empty, you can take advantage of faster charging speeds (and therefore shorter stops) for a greater percentage of km driven.

Just back from my first road trip. I got 179 Wh/km. The 100D is definitely more efficient than the P85. I assume most of that is due to the AWD system, with the taller geared front motor and torque sleep. There would also be a small effect from switching to 19" from 21" wheels. On most legs of the trip I was achieving better range than predicted by the Energy App, which isn't something that happened with the P85.

The combination of the 18% larger battery and higher efficiency means this thing has gobs of range. I found that very useful on my trip; it allowed me to skip a Supercharger and cut the total trip time down.

According to work done by wk057, your new 100D actually has ~27% more usable capacity than your P85. ~98kWh usable vs. ~77kWh usable.
