  1. 2012 Tesla Model S 85kwh - Salvage Title - Rebuilt - For Sale **Must Go This Week**

I purchased this black, 2012 Model S 85kwh from an insurance company through Copart with intention to finish this out and get this back on the road. It has a North Carolina Salvage Certificate of Title. Car has about 6,500 original miles on it.

From the photos, the vehicle sustained a collision on the driver's side of the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired by Spherical Designs in Charleston, SC. All replacement parts were purchased directly from Tesla through their NC service center. All invoices for parts purchased are available.

All air bags need to be replaced except for steering wheel. A new sun shield needs to be installed. Sunroof opens and works as intended.

The car will need to have the "pyro fuse" replaced. This is the one that goes off when the airbags deploy. After this is replaced, all systems should be fully function, although the car will alert because of the air bags being deployed. The air bag and accident faults are the only ones on the screen.

Computer, stereo systems, all controls and lights work as intended. A new 12-volt battery was also installed as part of this rebuild.

Last six of VIN is P03224. Original configuration sheet priced as of 1/8/2013. This features an all glass panaoramic room, 19" wheels (painted gloss black), grey nappa leather, obeche wood matte decor, sound studio package, active air suspension and supercharger software. Also include is the charging cord and attachments.

Car has been painted matte black with gloss black rims...was trying for a real stealth look.

Car will be sold "as is". There is no personal warranty of the work done and there is no Tesla warranty due to the salvage state of the vehicle. Looking for $55,000 or best offer for this. Some additional money may need to be put into this depending on whether you want the additional air bags replaced. Your call. If asking price is received, I will pay for the delivery charges.

Before and after pictures attached. If you have any specific questions, please send me a message. I will do my best to answer. I am not a mechanic or a Tesla specialist. Eyesight is my only tool.

Paypal transaction preferred with the sale of this vehicle. Cash or certified funds check will be considered. Funds must clear before car will be shipped. New title from State of NC will also need to be requested.

Vehicle is available now. You can also call my cell if you have any questions. PM me for my number.

You painted right over the turn signal??
Highly questionable, how is the main battery?

Stealthy cars don't want people to know when they're turning. ;)

Wonder what Tesla SC's policy would be with this. It's my understanding that they won't touch a car with a salvage title. Panels, wheels and such could be repaired at many places, but what happens when the computer in the car goes out or an electrical issue when there haven't been any service manuals released.

Now all the buyer needs is a VW Westfalia.

Considering what happened to it I think you cleaned it up real nice! So I think you'll get what your asking. If I didn't already have my car I would be real tempted.

While I am not in a position to offer any opinion regarding the car and its proposed price, I am happy to report that Jon Krumdick is a stand-up guy. He has financed many Tesla owners through his work at US Alliance. He would have done similarly for me, but I wound up heading in another direction for other reasons. My wife and I have met Jon face-to-face for lunch when exploring a possible relationship between US Alliance and one of my wife's environmental organizations. Jon has given me excellent advice that was the best thing for me as an individual to hear, even if that advice might send me down a non-US Alliance path. So I'd start from a position of assuming that Jon is a decent guy.

    Alan

P.S. I just happened to stumble onto this thread a moment ago. Jon has in no way solicited my post and the first he'll hear of it is when he checks back to read this thread.

Is there are clause in the warranty that states that cars declared totaled or w/salvage title have no warranty? This is standard practice (for good reason) w/every automaker selling in the US I know of.

  11. I recently spoke with Tesla (ownership team and some other connections there) and a salvage title does void the warranty. Right now they are reviewing a policy towards working on and providing out of warranty service for salvage and used vehicles. Since most cars have not or will not hit the mileage warranty limit, they did not tackle that. Recent transactions such as mine has spurned them to begin to review this and develop a policy to benefit such customers.

I still have no idea why the mechanic had the turn signals painted over.

Battery appears to be fine. No faults on the computer for battery issues. Just faults for the air bags and the accident piece. Shows a current charge range of 185 miles based on prior driving habits of the previous owner.

At what percent charge setting? For a 85kWh battery, you should be in the 250's for a max charge. Prob 260's with only 6500 miles on the battery.

I would 90% charge it and then take a screen shot of that. Actually.. any picture of the car *on* would probably help you get more interest.

He financed my car and I can defiantly attest to him being a stand-up guy.

He did not solicit my posts either.

I think Lolachampcar's Model S sold for around 62k. But His car (to my knowledge) still drove, wasn't salvage and no airbags deployed. And if salvage title does void the warranty it still had warranty coverage.

    Just food for thought.

Can I ask why you did not already replace the pyro fuse?

Why do you care what it sold for? and why do you think that's any of your business?

With all due respect of course.
