I'm more surprised that what, overall, appears to be only moderate damage totaled it. The pictures appear that the damage is mostly cosmetic (look at the completely straight runner under the door). It just took out all the body panels on that side and both bumpers. The fact that this totaled a car worth, undamaged, probably $80-90k is pretty crazy. Maybe that driver's rear suspension was severely damaged?

Interesting stuff, though.

unfortunately it isn't a 'need'
I really don't have the money to do it (maybe someday) + would want an S pretty much stripped of the body panels, rear seats, etc.
Chopped behind the rear wheels and front wheels, no roof, heat exchangers moved to the rear... pretty much for autocross and hillclimb events

I just noticed your entry "right now the charge port is locked out due to the accident fault." That is my problem too. Can you shed any light on what it takes to have it released? or point me to someone that would.
