My wife drove to a rec center and when she got out to the lot , it would not start. Tesla Service showed up quickly with a loaner. The next day they already had installed a "D" pack. It was a new one, (not reconditioned ) so I was very happy. All they told me was that there was a "electronic " problem. After a little research, I would not want a "A" or even a "B" Pack. Tesla Service is awesome!

    Hi,

Can you help me understand what your winter driving situation was? I'm in Colorado Springs and am weary of a non awd model. Did you drive in the snow? Use snow tires? Etc.

    Thanks!

Winter driving in the rear drive Model S is excellent. The key is snow tires. I bought an extra set of rims from Tesla and ordered a set of Michelin X-ice from Tire Rack. With great snow tires, 4,700 pounds of evenly distributed weight and traction control, the 2-wheel drive is awesome in snow & ice. The first winter, we went over Vail Pass in the worst blizzard I have ever experienced in my 38 years of Colorado driving. We were stuck for 2 hours One mile from the summit to clear up multiple accidents. Cars and trucks were stuck and spun-out everywhere. We had to creep down the pass with visibility of only a few feet. The model S was perfect. They are awesome in the snow/ice as long as you have snow tires. All-seasons will not cut it. Jim

I sadly sold Tess for full price, a few days ago. In my opinion, I gave her up for a screaming deal. I will "suffer" for up to 6 months before I buy another awesome Model S.

Congrats bsbomber on selling your Model S. It was great talking to you about Tesla's and other EV's. In talking to you about buying your car, made me order a new one. Whoever got your car, got a great one!
