I like the red, looks very clean. Whoever wrote that article you're referencing though is either misinformed or didn't bother to do any real research as $46,000 is very far off from the entry price point for pre-AP MS 60's.

The article referenced the price based on Tesla's inventory at the time. Too bad it is still not available to see it now. I guess we have to take it as true. I understand you do not accept that as well informed.

"The cheapest car currently"
Used Inventory | Tesla

I did my research also. Looked at prices being listed at TMC and other sites. For example...

2013 White S85, 76K miles, $42K/offer
What you think of that? I was hoping to see your comment on it.

The car does not have options I am offering inc. 3.5 years of warranty remaining. Of course, each buyer values options differently. What is worth a multi-coated red in MINT condition (like new), rear seats (hardly anyone available), etc. Hopefully, you understand not all cars are to be valued in same breath as you do.

Supply and demand play a role in the actual buying price. In this case, hardly any car is available to buy with specification given for my car. Besides, I have gotten multiple offers (not just one) that are not too far off the asking price.
I am not in rush to sell. Waiting for offer that is reasonable to me. Best wishes..

Since you asked....Here are some 2013 S 85’s and S 60’s that Tesla has sold with warranty as recent as this week for less than $35,000. Remember all these cars are factory CPO cars that have been refurbished, for what that is worth.

LOL...
I guess you are correct. This just tells me that Tesla must be selling cars at a lost since they gave me a trade in value in high 30s; which is higher than your highest price listed. No point in making sense. No explanation needed. Best wishes.

Selling a car has to do with the money that changes hands and not on the values attached to the items sold or traded. When you go to a store and buy a bottle of Coke on sale for 99 cents the seller may loose money if that’s all you buy but chances are you buy more items and they make money. If you think they are going to just buy your car for the same price without you also buying their car then you are misunderstanding the deal.

I don't want to get too involved in the pricing discussion (and am no going to say anything about the original poster's price point), but I do want to point out that I don't think that article "How much is a used Tesla worth?" should be used as a guideline. From reading it, it doesn't seem like the author did much research, and likely just looked at the current CPO Tesla listings on one particular day.

They also say some things that simply are not accurate. For example, they claim that most Model S have 21 inch wheels, and that 19s would hurt market value. I've been looking for several months now, and find that most (at least in my price range) have 19 inch wheels, and that a lot of people (myself included) would rather have the 19s, due to the 21s getting bent easily, decreasing range, tires wearing more quickly, etc..

The author is from an Australian classifieds website, which likely also skews their view. For example, they say that the best value they can find "right now" is a 2013 P85 for $59,900. That is far from a good deal - unless they are talking specifically about the Australian market, and that market is very different from here in the US.

Overall, as for pricing, how much a car is worth to a person will vary tremendously. A person who places a high priority on rear facing seats and sound studio would place a higher value on a car that has them than a person who is ambivalent about those.

Also, a quick google for "Tesla textile seats" will find many threads with people speculating that having textile seats will hurt the resale value of a Tesla. That is likely true for many prospective buyers, since many people do seem to think that a high end car should have leather seats. But, to someone like myself who specifically wants textile seats rather than leather, having textile seats increases the perceived value.

SunshineState, how do you find these? I have been trying to talk to CPO reps for months that keep telling me there's never anything under 40 available :(
