So my battery has died at 125200. They are quoting 24k to repair. It’s to my understanding that the warranty coverage has been adjusted last year for this model 60k to be 8 years/150k the car was sold in 9/14 so I have a few months left. I haven’t been able to speak to my advisor yet. No direct communication other than app. Anyone have any useful input?

I don't believe that's the case. Warranty terms have changed several times over the years, but only for new sales moving forward - not retroactively.

The warranty terms in effect at the time the car was sold remain in effect.

$24k is insane for a 60kwh battery (it's insane for any battery but particularly galling for a 60). Are they offering to replace it with something larger?

No, that warranty only applied to new vehicles. They didn't retroactively change the warranty on any vehicles.

I think your vehicle came with an 8-year/125k mile warranty on the battery. (So if your car had more than 200 miles on it at original delivery you would likely still be under warranty.)

The invoice shows a 60kw replacement but when they quoted the job without the goodwill gesture it was a 90kw. I’m fine with either. I’m just happy not to have to pay for it. Honestly I would have had it repaired outside of Tesla if they didn’t take care of it. I owned a rav4 ev and the packs in those where crap. Not to mention every other component. Charger failed, traction motor bearing failure, traction battery failure. All before 70k.

You are very lucky if they replace the battery under warranty. I have a May 2013 and the battery just died and I got the dreaded $24k quote but I pushed them on my options for a refurbished battery and their parts department said those are $11k but none available right now. I think when you ask they only offer the quickest option. This just happened on Friday and I am waiting until Monday to go back to them as ask more questions.

I would like to find out what is the difference between a $20k vs the $10k battery. When I look in the parts catalog there are several options including some 90kw batteries. Are they suggesting that a brand new 90kw pack can but swapped in.
