If so, that's a recent development. There have been several people posting otherwise in the recent past.
Update. I emailed them again and this time I was told what you stated, that only the original owner can purchase the warranty. I emailed them saying I was told when I first purchased my car that anyone can buy it and I got this response "Thank you again for your response. It is my understanding that the terms I reviewed with you are policy, however I have created a concern and escalated this request to your local service for review."

Spentan,
I bought my 2014 P85+ last year off eBay - it was a great experience. I actually like the fact that you have a reserve - it helps you get what you want and you can always change the reserve.

Question - Have you priced out the extended warranty? I really like your car and I believe you are the only one who is allowed to buy it from Tesla. Just curious on how much it would cost? Would this be something you would be willing to negotiate into your asking price?

The Extended warranty is $4000. It can be transferred for $100.

I'd be happy to go halves on on the extended warranty, bringing the car to $95k without it, or $99k with it.

I'm keeping track. (I'll PM - the blue one that BMW in NJ had sold yesterday) - not on eBay.

The blue one in NJ did NOT sell yesterday - it did not close at their reserve price. Even if it had - look up the seller ratings - that dealer has a ton of complaints about not following through with ebay deals when the cars didn't sell at prices they liked (even IF they met reserves). Shady seller.

Does anyone know the truth on this. The used car specialist at tesla told me that if you buy a car from a dealer, then the Warrenty is automatically void. I questioned how that could be. But he confirmed that was indeed the case.

Nope - warranty stands. doesn't matter how it is bought. The only truth to this statement is for the EXTENDED warranty. If the original owner didn't do it, you won't be able to get one (stupid if you ask me).

It didn't sell on eBay - it sold at the store.
