When contacting the seller, I was informed the asking price is $39,500 plus an additional $2000. He let me know he changed his mind and $39,500 was too low.

"What’s there to be unclear of I changed my mind I think $39,500 is too low."

Everyone is within their rights, but it might save someone time if they're looking to get a car for the listed asking vs going through some back and forth trying to understand why it isn't just listed for $2000 higher.
