2015 Model S Voice Command Button

The one problem I have discovered on my recent purchase of a 2015 model S 75 is that the voice command button doesn't work. However, when I hong the horn the voice command thing does come up. I assume that means that the problem is that actual button itself, correct?

1. I assume I am out of warranty so this would cost to have Tesla fix (2015 with 130k miles)
2. Has anyone fixed this themselves?

Have your rebooted the displays (AKA have you tried turning it off and on again)? The two displays boot separately, one by pressing and holding both scroll wheels on the steering wheel, the other by pressing and holding the upper buttons on the wheel.

I only tried re-booting with the scroll wheels. I didn't know about the other way. I will try that.

Update: I tried both methods of restarting, and nothing changed.

How can we be using that same button to restart the car, if the button doesn't work? Doesn't that mean that it isn't the button?

When you say the voice button doesn’t work, does it do anything?

You can always ask Tesla for an estimate and decide if it’s worth fixing.

It doesn't do anything at all. Yes, I have asked them for an estimate.

If it is the button that needs replacement, they can be purchased used for about $25. This is an easy repair.
