Any clarification on ESA?
I own a P90D Model X that was bought through the same lemon program and was told it won't be eligible for ESA since it is a lemon. It does however still have the remainder of the bumper to bumper 4 year 50k warranty and 8 year battery and drive unit warranty. Hope this helps.

You can definitely buy the ESA on a used car (regardless if it was sold from Tesla or a private party). I have purchased used Tesla and I was able add both to my cars.

Dhu1 - just to confirm, you purchased a used Tesla via private party and was able to add the ESA directly through your Tesla login? If so, when was this?

Just curious as I may be purchasing a Tesla through private party and want to be sure I can do this with no hassles. My local service center said it was not available to anyone but original owners, of course they have been known to give bad info.

Ok guys, quick update. Re: ESA, it seems it is not available. Can't find this written anywhere, but my inquiries always end with "I'll keep looking." I'm still shaking the tree...

I had an offer at 87k which fell through at the last minute. Have had multiple at 80/82k. Just waiting for another close to the former.

The key issue is no lender will cover the full value of the car with a "branded" title. So whomever buys this awesome car is gong to have to drop some front end monies in to cover the amounts that a bank or FCU will not offer. Unless you find a FCU that doesn't run the VIN...

Update: I checking my Tesla account page, and it will allow me to puchase the Extended Maintenance Plan (I got as far as entering my CC info). Obviously, I could get an email from someone saying that it's not allowed, but it seems like it is... No similar option for the ESA. Again, I am inquring, as I don't see why it shouldn't. There was NO stipulation against it when I bought it.

If anyone would like to make offers conditional on me successfully purchasing the ESA and/or Maintenance Plan PRIOR to concluding the sale, I would be happy to entertain that.

I would just buy the warranty so you have it in hand to transfer. If it shows up in your owners page, you can get it...
