2016 MX p90d driver's door issues, auto open

My son bought a 2016 mx p90d. I had to replace the drivers window regulator and now the door doesn't auto open, the "popper" pushes it open an inch, or so and that's it. It can be opened and closed manually and it latches and unlatches, but the auto open doesn't work. We checked all of the plugs and didn't forget to reconnect any. We've done resets and it was software upgraded that day (Christmas Eve). It wasn't working right after the regulator replacement, then it started working normally and within an hour it quit working altogether and hasn't worked since. Anyone else ever have this issue? I assume it has an electric motor on the hinge side of the door, but I can't find any reference to it anywhere; theory of operation, etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

yes there's a motor inside the door with little arm attached to the hinge
maybe it popped off or the motor died...
