AP2.0 cameras have RCCC filter.
AP2.5 and later cameras are full color.
So, logically, 2.5 cameras should be fine.
That may be it. Have you seen beta on any S or X. Ive only seen it on 3 and Y or plaid S

I have thought for a long time that you would have to have MCU 2 for FSD. Tesla sold a bunch of people the entertainment package. If the browser had worked, you wouldn't have needed it.

They are not quite full color.
The difference is in the filters within the camera sensor. Inside the sensor each pixel is represented by 4 photoreceptors, with a combination of filters. AP2.0 cameras produce a sort of reddish black and white image because they have a Red-Clear-Clear-Clear (RCCC) filter. Tesla later added a blue filter to the camera sensors, hence the Red-Clear-Clear-Blue (RCCB) filter on AP2.5/3 cameras.
RCCB cameras have no green filter to actually make them full color, but green can be calculated by the AP computer. That's why the RCCB images have a sort of sepia/yellowish hue when watching the videos.
Yes, this guy has had FSD beta for around a year on his 2018 P100D Model X (so no cabin camera in his vehicle).
Also, there are some TMC members on the Model X forum that discuss their FSD beta experience on their pre-Palladium X's in this thread.

So I have a later 2017 model S with the 2.5 cameras. FSD beta works fine without interior cameras. I have been using it for a few weeks now.
