2017 Model X P100D Lease Takeover

I'm 7 months into the 3 year lease, 8,000 miles on the vehicle, and I can't have it anymore. 15k miles per year lease.

Car is in perfect condition. No scratches, no smoking, no dings on the wheels.

I paid about $30k at signing and the lease is about $1850 per month. Tesla will take the car back now with a payment from me for $15k, so I’m really hoping I can just find someone to take over the lease!

Location: Bay Area, CA

Thanks!

Why are you getting rid of it?

No job anymore and I’d rather spend the money on more important things for me right now.

I actually paid just over $36,000 at signing. Monthly payment exact is $1845.75.

Residual at end of lease is $90k

Mileage update: I’m at 8604 now at this moment—a bit higher than I thought.

I’ll consider any offers. If this goes back to Tesla, I have to write a check for $15k.

Thanks!

1) what bank is the lease through? Is there a fee to do lease transfer?
2) I thought for leases the bank gets the 7500 rebate (but it then helps reduce your monthly payments). But from your pic it seems like you were able to claim the 7500 rebate yourself, is that right?
3) how long does it take to transfer? I've heard of other places taking months just to push through paperwork.

Xanatos:

1: Tesla Finance.
2: I did not get the $7500 rebate but maybe it’s reflected in my monthly payment somehow if Tesla was able to get it?
3: I’m guessing this can be done relatively easily. I heard there was a $500 fee. Transfer of lease was actually suggested by my Tesla rep over turning it back in to Tesla.

Regarding the payment for fully autonomous, I suppose I’m a bit optimistic.

Some thing is off or you got a very high money factor. 36 x 1845 + 36000 + 90000 = 192000 plus the loss of the tax credit means the interest is $40,000

His price for the car was 165500.00 - the tax credit noted in the price sheet is that crazy marketing that Tesla does that doesnt show the true cost of the car. And, given the tax associated with the buy down portion, the true cost is really $173,000.00 - so its more like $19,000.00 for his interest, no?

JamesG,

I wanted Tesla to succeed so I offered them more money. Kind of like Bay Area real estate.

Just kidding. If you send me your info, I’ll forward you the full lease document. If you can get payments reduced for me, or the next owner, I’ll give you a cut!

So true. Except.... Bay Area real estate keeps going up and our Tesla keep going down in value :(

Hi, I have a Model X 90D with 14 months left on lease.

Looking for someone to assume the remainder of the lease term. Has white exterior, 7 seats, tan leather, in excellent condition. Car in San Diego. Monthly is $1440.90 through US Bank. 15K miles/year, with current mileage 29K. All 4 tires replaced two months ago. Autopilot not currently activated, but can reactivate easily.

Let me know if you are interested.
