Cool. I await my DS's email/call/telepathy. Of course, after all this waiting it's going to turn into "do you have the money yet? WHY NOT!? ready to trade your car? Are you coming today? Now? How about yesterday?" Maybe I'll tell them their request is in process and they should receive an email when their funds are ready. Oh, sweet revenge!

Nice! I doubt it will have the same effect though :)

My Delivery specialist just told me that they stopped adding Model S and Model X to the assembly line sometime last Wednesday and that they planned to finish all the vehicles that they started, just not add new ones until after the retool. Apparently mine (and likely yours) is in quality control now VIN 37XXX. Delivery estimate (Oregon) updated to end of next week...hopefully...
If that is true, and all our cars got added to the production line on Wednesday... hopefully they are not just sitting there being ignored this week...

Meanwhile... on the internal Tesla Forum... the banter continues...
"You know, these people buying $100,000+ cars should really get their act together! I mean really! If they think we are going to keep making these cars with that kind of attitude they have another thing coming. First it was sunshades, then it was "build quality", and now it's one delay after another on getting us payment with little or no communication and some people are late picking up! Jeesh!"

I agree that P models appear to get prioritization. (They are more profitable, so it makes sense.) My MX 90D went into production yesterday, ordered 11 Dec 2016.
FYI a friend of mine ordered a P100D and took delivery this weekend about 1 month from hitting the order button - and we are all the way up in Canada. 1 month from order to delivery is FAST!!

I quipped with him that he has the "fastest production car in the world" -groan. :)

I am not pleased.

Which means... what? Is the car just sitting there now? I'm trying to figure out what stage it's in.
Wow, that is too bad. My DS told me that no cars that were started before the retool would just sit. That they only started cars they intended to finish, or at least get through the part of the line being shut down, before the retool. I guess they just say whatever they feel like because so far it doesn't seem like the DS's have been providing the most timely and accurate information.

I could be wrong, but I think sometimes the DS don't really know exactly what is going on (and that is not a great thing for them to tell customers) or they give the most accurate information they can, but it is still inaccurate (they are not there on the Fredmont floor watching the cars).

My car was sitting at the end of the line for what seemed like a long time (maybe 4 or 5 days). It may have had some post-production issues, but my guess is it was done and the DS (nor MyTesla) was updated.

Or maybe I just try to look on the bright side.

Yeah, that's why I'm trying to find out what 'early stages' means.

Keep the faith. "Early March" is just around the corner.

Just think, this delay probably means your X is better than mine that was produced prior to the factory shut down. ;)
I am not pleased.

It means you've entered the infamous "Tesla Black Hole". I experienced this back in the good 'ol P85D days :)

First P85D adopters stuck in black hole

I'm in there with you by the way...

My DS told me today that he is not getting any updates or responses from Fremont (likely chaotic this week). So no news isn't necessarily bad news. At least the DS was honest about it. So my car is maybe sitting there getting dusty or finishing QC and almost on its way to me - I guess I'll find out in the next few days.

My DS was much less responsive today, but I think that's because he took a week off, the bastard. He wants to set up a call to discuss delivery timing. I think they like to use calls over emails so they don't have stuff in writing :p

I am not pleased.

It means there is a heap of aluminum sheets (with your VIN) piled up in front of the stamping machine waiting to become a door, trunk or frunk. :D You are nearby, take a tour. You'll see everything moves along once it starts, 5 days end to end. The shut down was planned, allowing them to run out production prior to shut down. I was there again last week, ops was clearly winding down. Signs were obvious.

5 days seems like a long time. I heard (read) that Toyota can pump a car out in 18 hours. Did you learn that number in the tour?

I think they definitely have to get to about that speed if they hope to produce 100K model 3s this year.

EDIT: that said, the average time in production according to the delivery spreadsheet was about 17 days last I saw.

I haven't been on a tour in a year, but I recall the claim to be finished product queued for dispatch by 5. Elon has also stated they expect to ramp up the rate considerably as they continue to add more robotics and drive minute by minute efficiency rates higher. Paint alone cures for many hours in a clean room and the electronics, harnesses and wiring are threaded manually. The M3 has been engineered specifically for mass production and minimal customization, and while it will take time to ramp up to intended thru-put, it will get there (like mass produced Toyotas). PS - they've incorporated some Spacex robotic weld techniques into the S and X frames......just think, your car is the offspring off a Falcon Heavy rocket. ;)

Edit to your edit: the spreadsheet is dependent on emails. I received 3 at once, so if you looked at my stats, my car was built & shipped in one day. It's guidance and the best we have but not reality. Also note that a product delay hampers things from time to time i.e. gray nextgen seats last year added several weeks delay or the 5 seater X, yikes, distorting numbers.
