My 2018 Model X 100D is up for sale. Asking for $72,250. This is a great deal as I spent upwards of $12k in enhancements after taking delivery. It has every single possible upgrade and will only get better, as all Teslas do.

Car is in the bay area.

Feature highlights:

Based on the data points I am seeing (below) and your mileage I would offer you $60k. I came to this based on the $4k difference between a 50k mi and 25k mi car. Going off 70k (closer to 75k) miles for your car, I figure a $3k for the difference is fair.

All have FSD:
  • 2017 LR, 52k mi, $63k
  • 2017 LR, 25k mi, $67k
  • 2017 LR, 38k mi, $67k
  • 2018 P, 23k mi, $86k
  • 2021 LR, 0mi, about $88k (5 seats)

The going rate of any 2018 MX is 75k+. The miles are on the higher side but this is not any other car where the service bills suddenly start adding up.
I’m not bashing but just offering realistic perspective. I think that offer was very fair considering the extremely high miles way past the 4/50k warranty expiration. I have bought new model X’s and I wouldn’t own any Tesla without warranty unless it was very cheap making it worth the gamble. A pre Raven car is worth much less than a new Raven LR Plus car and Long Range Plus X’s start at $79,900 new fully equipped or demo cars typically available often for less. Tesla might advertise used 18’s for silly prices that are higher than a new one but you can be sure they don’t sell used cars for more than new ones. If you get a trade quote I’m sure it will make that $60k offer look very good, high mile cars are not easy to sell.

The cheapest 7seater 100D currently available right now from Tesla is a previously wrecked 2017 with 52k miles, listed for $63k.

This one is higher mileage but its 1 year newer, clean title, MCU2/HW3, and multiple aftermarket upgrades that add maybe 1-2k in value to the right buyer. But it does have FSD, which is a 5k difference from EAP. HW3/MCU2 is a 2.5k upgrade, so really a 2.5k net difference.

The very cheapest non-wrecked 7 seater 100D, currently available right now from Tesla is a 2017 MCU1/HW2.0 with 33k miles for $71,800. 2017 Model X | Tesla

Offering 12k less (9.5k if you consider FSD&MCU2) on a newer car due to higher miles is kind of an insult.

Not really an insult, high miles kills resale. I own a dealership and look at mileage for what it is. Tesla list prices currently are very high and are actually intended to help push new car sales to make the 500,000 mark. When Tesla lists a ‘17 for only $8k less than new 2021 list price it is obvious they are pushing buyers to new cars. Listing a car for a specific price is different than selling it for that price, it doesn’t set the market price.

So you're saying Tesla used prices only count when they are low and fit your narrative? When they are high, they don't count and have no impact on market prices. Makes sense. Even if you check archived sales for when prices were lower and counted in your book. The very cheapest 2018 MX 100D 7seater ever sold was $70,400 with 38.3k miles and prior accident history. That offer is $10k lower than the lowest recorded sale price for this car from Tesla.

No matter what you claim, 60k is a ridiculous offer on a 2018 MX 100D.

shrug. seems fair to me.

i don't need a 7 seater, so it's not really a value add for me (that's why I included 5 seaters). there are plenty of 100D MXs lower miles on tesla in 60s. if op doesn't think it's fair, they'll just move on. no harm no foul.
There isn’t 1 single 2018 100D currently available on Tesla.con in the 60s. 2017 5 seaters with bad carfax are not good comps for a 2018 7 seater with clean history.

If you want a wrecked 2017 5 seater for 60k. Go buy this one

correct, that is why I listed 2018s in my original reply. not sure why you are so triggered? i made an offer, ready to buy a good deal, but am also in no rush. these cars are commodities and will only depreciate as time goes on.

What’s with the butt hurt? This is free market and offers can be made. The worst thing the seller can do is saying NO. I have a guy wanting to sell me his 2017 100 X for 63k on Autotrader. Albeit being 2017, it’s only 28k and aside from the year, there’d be no difference between a late 2017 and a 2018.

For a high mileage like this, asking 70k is actually ridiculous where the new 2020 is 80k. And all the aftermarket mods don’t really count anything here.
 
Car is still available. Will sell for the right price. I understand high mileage == BAD but its primarily seen from a servicing and parts POV. The most important part of the car, the battery, has 5 years and 77,000 miles left on it. These cars simply don't become a money pit past the warranty expiry.

Lots of parts on these cars COULD become a HUGE money pit very quickly. (MCU, FWD, etc.)
