Hi all!
New to the forum, but have been following Teslas for a long time. Finally decided to jump and get a Tesla X.
I have found a Tesla for sale and would like some advice.
This Tesla comes with a 8 year warranty (there was a time when Teslas were sold with a 8 year, 160k km warranty).
My question is ... is it really that simple?
1. Just buy the car and if anything goes wrong, it is covered by warranty?
2. Should I do a pre-purchase inspection via Tesla? I was told they don't do a pre-purchase but will do a general check over
3. There are also no EV specialist pre-purchase inspectors in the state where I am purchasing this vehicle
4. Is there anything that can go wrong that won't be covered by Tesla's warranty?
5. Anything else anyone can think of? Advice? Warnings? etc ...

I'm not an Australia expert, but it sounds like the 8 year warranty is referring to the powertrain warranty (battery and drive motors only). No warranty is going to cover "if anything goes wrong."

No. Supposedly it is the new car warranty and the powertrain/battery warranty is separate.

Note, I said "supposedly". I have asked Tesla to confirm this as part of the service check.

In the US, there is a 4 year or 50,000 mile (whichever comes first) warranty. Then there was also an option for original owners to buy an extended warranty, that goes another 4 years/50,000 miles. For the extended warranty, there is a $200 deductible per item. The extended warranty is transferable to a new owner. When Tesla sells a used car, AFAIK it comes with only whatever is left of the base warranty plus 1 year.

The model X wears through tires at a relatively high rate. That is a notable item all owners should budget for.

Curious to learn more of the warranty situation in Australia.

But yes, back to the topic at hand though, with the new car warranty in place, do I need to worry about anything else when I purchase a Tesla? eg are there anything (other than wear and tear) that is not covered by the Tesla New Car Warranty that I should be aware of? Or can I just buy the car blind (assuming of course that it hasn't been in an accident etc.) and just be comfortable knowing that if anything goes wrong with the car, warranty will fix it.
