June 29 delivery of a 2018 Model X. 75D.

Where do I start.

1. (the biggie). Wood ash trim on the right side doors, carbon fiber trim on the left side doors. Wow - I didn't even know this was possible.
2. Lateral scratches on the plastic panel at the bottom of the right falcon wing door
3. Multiple misaligned body panels
4. Rubber gaskets not properly sealing the falcon wing doors with each open/close

And this is just what I, without being a huge car aficionado, see with the naked eye.

I never would have imagined a new car showing up with the above errors - especially #1. Just, wow.

WOW for #1, holy smoke!!! I would be more concerned with the FWD not sealing as water could get in. But, that #1 issue is just WOW!!o_O

Do yuou recommend taking it to Costa Mesa or back to Buena Park since they screwed up.

I wouldn’t necessarily drive all the way down if that is an inconvenience just take back to BP and explain to them the situation and see if they can expedite that fix the only in-house Tesla body shop I know of in LA is in Van Nuys rest of them outsource including Costa Mesa ...good thing we are in SoCal and no rain forecast for awhile !

Another thing I forgot to mention is that the Drivers door window squeaks when the door is closed (you know when the doors shuts the window automatically closes a little bit more) . Never did that before either. Is there an easy fix?I hate to report that to them and end up with more problems again.

Got my X back after being in the SC from 7/18 till 8/10. View attachment 325306 View attachment 325307 (Way too long for what was fixed). Fixed the ding in the Rt FWD and also aligned the hood. Did not align the Driver FWD so that is still off. They replaced both FWD top glass because the seals did not align and leaked when I washed the car. Only got one one right. The driver FWD seal is actually worse than before (WTF!!). (Pictures attached). Also now both FWD are not sensing correctly when I stand near the car. They were working correcly before I took it in.When I am a foot away they open in to me. So back to the SC it will go. I've only had it 5 weeks and 3 of those in the SC!!

Don't they do a factory soak test?

You would think they would make more effort to make the cars watertight because leaks are really expensive to fix. I had a Suzuki that the dealer managed to damage during a service once, and the water soaked all the carpets and parts of the seats. Cost them a small fortune to replace all that.

Most luxury car makers do a soak test for that reason. Don't want those expensive materials to get ruined or upset the customer.

Ford had a problem where they missed a spot of seam sealer on a bunch of Edges. I can't even imagine what that cost to repair. It was a 25 hour warranty job to remove the entire interior.

Have had squeaking seals on cars before - 'Gummi Pflege' has always done right by me when silicone spray does not work. Don't use too much of either.

Thanks for the tips for the squeaking seals. Actually had some Gummi Pflege in my garage. Put it on the seals and it took care of it right away.
Talked to my SA and explained the issues. Said he would get me right in and put my car to the head of the line. Seemed very willing make things right. Is going to make sure I get a loaner car ( they have been slammed lately with all the new deliveries and other issues) and then have me drop off my car. I am hopeful that things will get fixed. On another note it was great to get to drive my car (still love it). Compared to the P100D X with 22's and my 100D X with 20"s I love my ride better. Maybe I'm just getting old.

I like the ride in my 20" as well. I LOVE the look of the 22" turbines, but I prefer the ride in the 20" too :D

Funny how people keep bringing up issues by other car manufacturers. Who cares about them? We're talking about Tesla vehicles. Just because others have issues doesn't mean it's OK for Tesla to be the same way. Customers should be demanding that Tesla pay more attention to the issues afflicting their vehicles, not trying to soften the blow by comparing to other makes' problems.

It's often a pre emptive response to the "other car makers don't have these problems" that usually shows up in these threads.

In my case it was a response to the question about soak tests. Even those don't catch everything, and often the best we can do is fix it well, after delivery.

I hope they take Tesla private ASAP as I think the quality will improve when that happens. I have tons invested and love Elon and the company but boy do I have stories that should be told so they will improve the company rather than be advertised by shorts and people that want them to fail.

i have some fitment issues too but i don't know if i will bother with them given what everyone has reported on this thread. definitely some paint defects too like "hairs" under the paint and small touch up paint spots which they must have addressed during QA, but i am not going to worry about those if it means body shop time.

what do you think of these trim and rubber seal issues. i am most concerned about the last photo rubber seal where it's been twisted and is almost vertical.

You should seriously consider getting that last one fixed. The other ones are also unacceptable, but I would get that seal fixed first, could potentially let in rain water.

I think those of us who support Tesla are willing to give them some latitude, but should not accept such glaring manufacturing defects on a 100+K vehicle. After all, money doesn't grow on trees and there are a lot of people who work very hard to earn it!

Good luck, hope you will be able to resolve all the issues and enjoy your X!
