Hawaii Oktoberfest and Auto Show, Saturday, October 6, 2018

ʻOkakopa Hoʻolauleʻa 2018

It's that time again! This is always a fun event and great opportunity to hang out with other Tesla owners.

$25 to register for the Da Kine show. If there are enough of us, we'll have our own designated area again.
or $25 for the Concours show. This year, they are adding EV specs to the judging sheets!

General public admission is free but you don't get to park in the designated area with all the other Teslas.

Who's going?

THANK YOU NANIMAC. The Christmas party was a really great event. Enjoyed meeting so many new Tesla owners and a few waiting on their deliveries. Great time talking to so many new people. The food was so good, the venue was terrific and so interesting.

@nanimac , any word on an end of year gathering at service center to help with deliveries?

Nope. Reached out to delivery manager but never heard back. Other clubs have said they seem to be better staffed this time. But I’ll be helping out at the Fremont delivery center while I’m in California so hope to get some first hand insights on how clubs are helping. Will share with delivery manager if she ever gets back to me.

Bring back some good stuff from there for us. Hehe

Just got word that Tesla would like our help with deliveries. I’ll be chatting with delivery manager today. If all goes well, will be putting a google doc schedule together as well as guidance on what we can help with based on what other clubs did last quarter.

Went to my first 'shift' this afternoon. It was a lot of fun chit chatting with the soon-to-be-TΞSLA-owners as well as the other volunteers. We have more than our quota of Steve's in the Hawaii chapter :D
More than once we got a thank you from the Tesla staff, as they said it helps to alleviate the wait time for when the vehicles are not quite ready for delivery. The new owners were also quite surprised and happy to be able to ask questions not directly related to Tesla, like things concerning Hawaii's EV perks (parking and HOV benefits) and also we can talk about things they wouldn't necessarily hear from a delivery specialist, since we're speaking from a non-employee perspective. I can't imagine the other carmakers having this kind of support from their customers. What a great community!

What a GREAT story/report. Yes, What a great community -to -be -a -part -of. And along those same lines, I really get a charge (pun intended) when I tell a new owner that they can park free at the airport, on street parking and one person in HOV lane. Seeing their eyes light up as the produce their first indirect Tesla grin for the perks is worth every minute of them during delivery.

spend the day today at work, but still had the opportunity to speak to new owners as they stopped by to say they finally bought a tesla. best story was from "Liz" she told me how her husband spent the past few days playing with summon. put the car in the garage, take it out... repeat.:D she said she got a kick out of watching him "Play"

Went again this morning for the 10-12 slot and wished I could have stayed longer, but had to work my real job today. They were getting absolutely slammed with new customers and we were hearing the same stories again and again, that customers were frustrated with the communication (or lack thereof) from Tesla. Us volunteers did the best we could to turn those frowns upside-down while they waited and did a pretty good job of explaining the backlog and delays as well as getting them excited for their new purchases. They really can use as many volunteers as possible to help prep their vehicles as well as talk to clients.

Slammed, frustrated and many new faces with lots of questions and looks of astonishment about perks. It was all fun. Enjoyed every minute. Such a sense of satisfaction from being even a little helpful.
