Are the lug nuts covers or the actual nut?

They look huge. A 1" socket fits, but seems a little lose.

If they are covers how do you remove them?

Regardless what size socket do I need?

Since I learned the hard way since nobody answered you - they are a PUSH on cap. Take two little screwdrivers - wrap in tape first and gently pry them off.

You can get a $6.99 tweezer to pull the caps out or you can buy a $6.99 whole set of tweezer and 20 caps for Model 3 (which should work for all S, X, and 3 since they all have the same 21mm nuts).

You can also use a long nose plier. I would avoid using a flat head screwdrivers because it might scratch the shiny cap.

Yeah, eventually figured that out too.

I bought the "Audi" tweezers for like $5.46 on Amazon Prime (2 Pack). Much quicker and easier than the screwdrivers.
