If you set your update preference to advanced and then press and hold update on the screen for about 15 seconds (maybe more) it should force an update.
Absolutely not true at all. Why does stuff like this keep getting spread around? Toggle or hold that button down to your hearts delight, it wont do anything.
Live chat Tesla and have them refresh your car. It will push the update to you.
Hence my response apologising for posting inaccurate information.Completely false rumor. Please stop posting this crap

Right, thank you for acknowledging that but you still reference that it would supposedly work for UK owners which is still false.
When newcomers read this thread they’ll see “it worked” 7 times over and o Luna couple people saying “not for me”. When in reality, it has never worked.
When you open the Software tab the car automatically checks for an update... when Tesla is pushing a mass update it tends to make the news and then people go check their car and guess what “happens” when they press 5 or 2700 times? A new update....
There is no way to force an update.
I'm so sorry this has upset your life to such an extent, I apologise profusely.
lol twat!
I am very glad to hear this. Now hopefully people will stop calling.it seems like Tesla changed its policy. According to chat, they will no longer push out updates unless Tesla already tried to push it to you previously and failed. Now you just have to wait until it’s your turn.
Good job! Now your car will be with the rest of packs. Sometimes you will be at the front other the end and mostly in the middle when it comes to updates and when they roll out. Use teslafi firmware tracker as a TOOL. to know when software is looking like it is being pushed out widely. DO NOT go out and push the screen advance or hold it it doesn’t do anything. Just opening the software page will check for update. If the check for updates takes a while to complete it is communicating with the server and will grab the update since your vin has been flagged. Any other times the check software screen will return “your cars software is update” with 3-8 seconds.I just got my first update. I guess I jumped a few revs and have 40.2 now.
As the wise and experienced posters wrote, I just waited until it was my turn![]()

enjoy you car and get out and report bugs when driving. That helps them move the fleet forward.
You can open the Tesla app and request a service appointment for software. Once you do that they will contact you the next day most of the time and tell you they have pushed you the LATEST SOFTWARE for you cars vin. And then cxl your appointment. Just like before when you pickup your car it takes some time for them to register that with the system. Like how it takes time for your tags to come unless your transfer tag within the same state. But try the thing above and that will do it. You will need to be on WiFi to download the update most of the time. Sometimes they pushed it and it downloads over LTE. ONLY ISE THE SOFTWARE APPOINTMENT trick when you absolutely need to.Bumping this thread because it has been more than 3 weeks since I got my SR+ and I am still stuck at 2019.31.104 and not getting updates. Anyone else in the same boat? Thanks.
