Is it confirmed that model Y will ever ship to europe from the US? I was assuming that UK deliveries of the Y would have to wait for Berlin.
I'm planning on swapping my S for a Y the minute they are available, so this interests me :D
I believe the UK Y will come from Berlin. The first production line to be opened in Berlin will be for Model Y.

How can I tell if my Model X is on it? (Fingers crossed)

I should know in 48 hours for Nijmegen. You will need to google vedaprime as I can’t supply the link directly in a post on tmc.

I will be putting the total numbers on here. I expect the numbers to be quite low with only a 9 hour stop.

I have all 489 vins from the first ship Maersk Iowa. We have 3 Model S/X ships in the next weeK - Maersk Nijmegen (now arrived), Maersk Ohio, and Safmarine Mafadi.

That's my understanding too. Search YouTube for Tesla Gigafactory Berlin. There are 3 different people posting 20 minute drone flyovers every couple of days. Much more entertaining than our thread hero Mr. Miserable :p No offense intended.

@Mr Miserable a question you probably know the answer to: I've been following Maersk Ohio crossing the Atlantic and arriving in Antwerp, which is really close to Tilburg. But know, about a day later, she is again at sea, and heading for Rotterdam. Are they not unloading the cars in Antwerp? Or is she now on other missions?

I asked the same question, @Mr Miserable informed me the stop at Antwerp is a regular stop to unload other general shipping containers, the Tesla cars get unloaded at Rotterdam a day later.

If you are waiting for MODEL S or Model X

Although Model S and Model X are made in the same factory as the Model 3 their delivery journey to you is markedly different.

Both Model S and X are shipped partly assembled in containers (3 to a container).

They are moved by road from the factory to the Oakland Joint Intermodal Terminal where they are loaded on to a train.

The train then takes about 9 days to travel to Houston. (actually BNSF Pearland).

The containers are then moved by road to the dock at Barbers Cut where they are then loaded on to a scheduled container ship that eventually arrives 15 days later in Rotterdam (Note: Although the ships have a scheduled stop in Antwerp your containers are unloaded in Rotterdam).

There the containers are moved by road (or barge) to Tilburg in Holland. Your car is removed from the container and then joins a mini production line where it is reassembled. It is then moved to Zeebrugge and shipped to Southampton.

As can be seen, all this takes time.

Finding your car in this complex logistics chain is difficult but there is a man who can. @Vedaprime is the specialist in this area. You can find him here but he normally resides on Twitter.

Ships for possible Model S and Model X shipments are:

MAERSK MONTANA arrived Rotterdam 3 Aug

GLOVIS CAPTAIN She is currently alongside in Southampton spewing Model 3s on to the dock (and the odd Model S or X too)

RCC ASIA continues to progress across the Atlantic. Her midday position is shown on the chart below. ETA Zeebrugge PM 01 Sep, Southampton probably around 4 Sep.

RCC ASIA Atlantic Progress.png

GLOVIS SIGMA She is currently about 150nm NW of Cabo San Lucas and maintaining 14kts on a track that hugs the coastline. She will encounter numerous intense thunderstorms all the way to Panama. The area is prone to spawning tropical storms and hurricanes and INVEST 97E is brewing to her south. She is due to arrive at the entrance of the Canal a week today. Don’t forget to enter the GLOVIS SIGMA competition! I expect her to arrive in Zeebrugge around 13 Sep.

GLOVIS CLIPPER Is just arriving alongside Pier 80 and will commence loading later today. I strongly believe she is coming to Europe and so I have pencilled her in to arrive at Zeebrugge around 17 Sep.

GLOVIS SUNLIGHT She is making her way north from Mexico and is just about to pass GLOVIS SIGMA. She is due to start loading at Pier 80 next Saturday 29 Aug and I expect her to head to the Far East.

K.ASIAN BEAUTY I am concerned that she won’t make it to Pier 80 by Sep 4. She is currently in the Gulf of Mexico alongside in Altamira loading new Kia Forte. Oil companies operating in the Gulf of Mexico are already evacuating their oil rigs as Hurricane Marco approaches. K.ASIAN BEAUTY will need to time her departure to pass behind the Hurricane.

Love that. “Reliable source at Tesla”. Hahaha.

Sorry, being sarcastic - give them a call and check using your Reservation Number (RN), this could yield your VIN (means you have been allocated an actual car) and if you ask them nicely they might now the ship name - but not always.
