Tesla doesn’t do model years beyond their legal obligations - they make rolling changes to the line when they are ready, usually near the start of a quarter.
In past years, new MY VINs showed up right around the first of the year. This time they are earlier, for reasons no one has explained that I’ve seen - but as far as we know the cars produced with 2020 VINs aren’t different from recent 2019 VINs.
