2021 M3 Aero wheel covers, "peeling" off

So as the title says, I had one then another aero wheel cover "peel" off the rim.
What I mean is that the when I went to look at the tire, I noticed that part of the wheel cover was pulled away from the rim, but still attached. I was able to bang it back.
Any ideas what caused this? It has happened twice, thinking car wash, but I don't get the tires scrubbed, at least I don't think so.

Look at the retention clips on the aero covers see if they are uniform in how they are spread to grab the wheel. Also, potholes are not your friends, but the 18" wheels are better at handling than the larger wheel sets.
