Collected my LR Model 3 this morning (3 hours ago) It had the heated steering. My rep said it was the first m3 delivery he's had at the center with the heated wheel. My Vin is 9023XX I was chatting with him and he said once the Vin is available it's really easy for them to check the confog and I should have just called instead of
Ordered January 22nd. Took delivery today at Aartselaar. Car was built January 18th so probably got lucky that they could assign me a VIN that was already built and ready to be shipped to Zeebrugge.
I believe the updated 3 has a different software e version at the moment. It enables the steering wheel but is missing some other features. Unsure why. Mine tells me there is no new version.
Soo... I just got my M3 back from the SC... The SA told me that they tried sending the software update remotely, but it was failing... The Tech tried a few times and as we were about to leave... BOOM. got an update notification. Drive home... do the software update. And it's the same exact version that I have 2020.47.101.1 That was about 4 hours ago. NOW... after washing my car... I got another software update notification. BOOM 2021.4.10 Now... just waiting for it to finish installing. Let's see if Tesla figured out the heated steering wheel + current software. **Been about 20min and only at 67%** <--> Will update when it's finished
Curious to see if you keep the heated wheel. '21 M3P here (VIN 856***) and 2021.4.10 was pushed to me earlier today. No dice. But if you had it, and then it was taken away with this update ( sucks for you :-| ), there's hope for the rest of us
So, I can CONFIRM that the heated steering wheel is still there on 2021.4.10. I have no clue why slightly older cars don't have the heated steering wheel enabled. What a mystery.
Not sure if there was a 2021 reported with 2021.4.10 already, but you are a clear counter example to the claim that current updates might disable the heated steering.
Just another data point but for a 2021 Y that originally had 2020.47.101.1, updating to 2021.4.10 retained heated steering wheel. Maybe others will get it enabled as part of v11?
Just adding a ray of sunshine. Took delivery of my LR AWD tonight. It is a 906 VIN manufactured in 02/21. It does have the heated wheel and it warms up nicely, even when it was 72 in Raleigh today.
I think that cars destinated to Europe, left US on 15 January. How can it have build date 18 January?
Not sure, but that's what the paper that came with the car said. Don't know how frequently they ship to Zeebrugge, might have been on the next ship ?
Check out this amazing thread on shipping movements. Provides in depth info on this topic and is a lot of fun! 2021 Shipping Movements
Nicely done. I have a mobile appointment to have my homelink put in tomorrow. You think I can ask the tech to force update my M3? Do you think they can tell me if the heated steering hardware is installed?
won’t be as simple as pushing an update. I’m on 2021.4.10 on a Dec 30 delivered 2021 M3P and no steering wheel heating option in the software. Seems the same version of the software can show different options depending on the hardware configuration. now whether or not my car has a secret hidden heated wheel that will be unlocked someday down the road....shrugs
Just a little bit ago I received a phone call from my Tesla delivery specialist. I had just turned on eligibility on Wednesday the 24th and surprisingly he said my car was there at the store right now?? Strange but wonderful. Red M3LR 18inch wheels FSD. I asked him for the VIN number which was 901XXX. I was a little disappointed as it was less that 808BOB's and I'd been holding out for the heated steering wheel. I had ordered the car Jan 8th and had turned off eligibility twice. Nevertheless I asked him to check if it had the heated steering wheel and off he ran to see. When he came back he said YES and that he had turned it on and it worked fine, he also added it had the new lights. I'll be picking up the car late this afternoon and if anyone has any additional questions I'll be glad to try and answer.
